If someone tells you there is only one right way to tune an engine they probably only know one way. If you know what your doing you can make an engine run fine no matter how you go about tuning it. Whatever works best for you is all that matters really!!

I believe that the bottom needle should be tuned first. That way, your top needle tuning becomes pretty straightforward, along with your idle. It's way more difficult attempting to tune the top needle first.

Set hsn fairly rich , controlling rpm's , tune lsn for a consistent idle , adjust idle accordingly then dial in hsn on the track ;)

I am trying to break in a Bonito and BTT, using a CompHeat Duece makes tuning more consistent. I hope it pays off on these puppies. Monty, I'm about one gallon of Sidewinder Stryke fuel in on the Bonito, do you think it is ok to use the S&W fuel now? I have 3 gallons just sittin there....I was told during "break-in" not to use it. My Bonito still has a lot of pinch. I was thinking maybe another half gallon of the Stryke maybe.??? LMK |
well.......I was told by about two dozen people I would be fine using the Stryke fuel for break in...
Just wondering what the optimal point would be to run this S&W fuel. |

I may not be right, but I don't think stryke is a good break in fuel either :(
You want a lot of good castor oil, 11%+, the synthetic fuels like stryke aren't the best. Maybe I'm wrong though. I've always used byrons 30% with 11% oil for the first gallon. If it is fully broken in then it's probably ok to run whatever fuel you want. |

I broke every single one of my engines in on the purple Strike Team fuel. I even broke in quite a few engines for others locally with Strike Team this year. Haven't we talked about believing all the BS you read on this site little man? Maybe there is castor, maybe there isn't, I don't care because it works. Don't try to turn 40,000 RPM during breakin and you will be fine. Take it easy and limit the sustained high RPMs with any engine and any fuel.
no offense here but you also post on this site.. so you calling your advice BS?:p if so what makes it better BS?? I'm just saying:nod: |

I know this kid personally. I do post on this site. Also a lot of poeple with 2,000 + posts that do not know what they are talking about post bad info on here all the time. I am not saying who does and does not know what they are talking about but he has been known to think someone had 1000+ posts they must know what they are talking about. Would you rather trust someone on the web that you know nothing about or someone locally that does well that you can personally see and ask questions too? |
you basically called everyone that post on tho site BS... your negative comments on the info the site is offering is not needed
if you know him personally call him up!!! what you think about doing that next time??? |

yea it seems that just a thought...

This is getting blown way out of proportion.
Got my popcorn and drink. Get-R-Done!:lol::lol::lol::lol: Nova Rossi makes awesome engines. |
chhhhhhhh....
Monty, ya there, come in.....OVER... chhhhhhhh.... |

Lets go back over that post, shall we? You need to read what I'm saying first Peralta, before you can start going off about I don't know what I'm talking about.
There is a reason why I said I THINK there peralta, I didn't say IT IS better or worse. And just because it works doesn't mean it's better. I like the bryons better in general anyways, in both the stock and mod engine.:lol: So I should not defend the fuel I run when someone like you who "doesn't really know" says something negative like that? Heck you a MOD here, how do you know some new person doesn't get scared away from the product over your post?? |
boys:rolleyes::lol: good stuff;)
i have been able to take a number of engines apart that have been running team stryke( amongst other fuel brands ) and i will say without a doubt that it is not an "optimal" break in fuel as it has VERY LITTLE castor oil but on the same token odonnell which doesnt have much castor either doesnt seem to coat the piston/sleeve fit (compression seal) area as much as team stryke does . i have noticed that the team stryke leaves a build up on the piston and the sleeve where they meet to form a compression seal and unless running the engine above 230° range the "proprietary lubrication" oils sidewinder uses will for lack of a better term shellac on the surfaces of the piston/sleeve. i have also noticed a buildup of what looks like melted crayon on the intake throat of the crank :weird: weird :tire: take it how you wish but castor is IMO a necessity when breaking in engines , i would recommend at lest a 6% castor blend , byrons race 3000 = 6% castor 5% synthetic blends , i am happy using this fuel for at least break in , not a bad idea to run all the time ;) i have tested some blue vp powermaster fuel and i can tell ya it is a great fuel also ( dont ask ;):D) |
