Ron, at how many gallons would you recommend replacing the conrod after the break in phase?

Generally we do not replace the rod after break in, just run it for the life of the P/S set.

Well I said F---it and Bought a Werks B5 I had a hard time with my B2 something was not right with it from the started. I even drove to TEX just to make sure I was not crazy about tuning my motor? My friend in Tex had the same motor so I said lets do a test day. WE got his tuned like it should be. Then we tried mine. well well it was something really bad with this motor. Only had 1 ½ gal fuel on it.
Anyway I said I will try a werks again. I hear and seen how well the B5 ran. When the B2 ran it was a BAD-MF. I could still run my 44 spur and still jump everything that came my way. I love the bottom of the B2 and from what I hear the B5 will have just as much are even more to pull that 44 spur gear.

May I ask what was it exactly what was not tunning right?

Idle ? Top End, low end, does it just die on you after a couple of laps or when you are at the pits what exactly ?

Top end was great. After about 4 mins in a lap it would just die. Idle would go up and down too.

If it's something that happens after a few minutes it is generally heat related. Meaning tuning, bearing issue or something like that which comes into play once the engine heats up. Once it died would the engine re-fire and if so how would it run then?

I have a noob question regarding the B5 Pro. I just purchased a new B5 Pro a couple days ago. As far as break in and tuning is concerned on the B5, should I follow the break in and tuning method in the tech tips page, on the Werks website? Also, what should the outdoor air temps be when I start to break in and tune my engine - 70 to 80 degrees F? I'm sort of a noob when it comes to nitro. I've had a couple RTR kits, but it's been about 7 or 8 years ago. Just starting to get back into nitro, so I apologize for the noob questions. I just want to make sure that I get a solid break in and first initial tune on my new engine.
Thanks in advance for your help and input, I appreciate it!!!

Just go back to page 1 of this thread and Ron gives a great step by step instructions on how to break in your engine. The outside temp isn't too big of a deal. If it's still 70 to 80 where you
are, that's fine. If it gets really cool outside, you can always wrap the head with aluminum foil

Definitely not 70 - 80 degrees where I'm at! LOL!! Yep, I found Ron's instructions on page 1. I may have to wait until spring before I break it in. I just ordered my MBX6T kit and B5, haven't got it yet. I'm afraid that by the time I get everything and get it together, it's going to be too cold outside to break it in. Even if I use foil or a sock on the head.

Which brings up another question. If I'm not able to break in my B5 until spring, is there anything special I should do to the engine, since it will be basically sitting for a few months and not being ran? Will it be ok to sit like it is, or should I do something special with it? There won't be any fuel ran through it.

Thanks for the input, I appreciate it!!!

I'd still break it in myself and play every chance I got. But I live in GA. If you're gonna let it sit, it should be just fine. They normally have some oil in them to prevent rusting. If you just wanna be extra safe, you can always pull the plug and put some after run oil in the cylinder and carb barrel and spin the engine a few times. It may be hard to spin without a flywheel on it though

You dont have to do anything to the engine when its new, as long as you dont fire it up just leave it alone... Nothing will happen to it

Thanks for answering my question polarbear72 and Aleq. Pretty sure my B5 and MBX6T will sit until spring. As I type this response, it's snowing here in Michigan.

I have to say, after seeing the B5 Pro and 2013 pipe up close and in person - pure artwork!!!!

I have another big brown box that needs to be opened. Wonder what that could be???
(stay tuned)
