Default removing tight sleeves

I have used the zip tie method and most of the time it works well.
When they get really hard to get out I use an old shock piston.
Simply set it on top of the piston, and catch the edge of the exhaust port.
I have never had a problem doing this and never damaged a sleeve.

Wow and they are like $55-$65 and don't work. Same with the JP one? Don't work on a tight sleeve?

GRP use to have one, but no longer make it. Not sure if that worked well.

So is the best method the zip tie method? How does it exactly work? I don't want to damage the sleeve.

Do the engine modders have a special tool?

I cannot see that design being too effective when the piston is still inside the sleeve...

Very true, but if it could hook up into the ports it will work.

Sometimes you have a borken rod and/or broken piston and the sleeve did get a bumb it is hard to get it out, mostly you ca get the mess out from the rear and then this will help to get out the sleeve.....

I cut the brush off the end of a curved handle plastic toothbrush ( clear or tanslucent work the best ) roll the piston to the top of the sleeve to protect the skirt, then stick the handle thru the backplate opening and align it against the bottom of the sleeve and block. Tap the bottom of the handle on a solid surface and the sleeve will pop up. Works for me.

thanks for that I have always used the zip tie method just get a medium size zip tie not to thin otherwise it will cut it off then put a medium size zip tie thru the exhaust outlet with the piston bdc I always heat the case first and simply turn the flywheel slowly and it will pop up enough to get a grip on the top of the sleeve and pull it out, tap the back of the case to get the rod off the crank be at tdc to do this then remove your flywheel I always use a puller so you dont damage the crank and then pop out your crank and your done

I use the Fiorini tool mostly....it works pretty decent, will pull out sleeves far tighter then you can by hand or with a toothbrush........On the really tight ones I use heat and a tie wrap.....
