My first 2 races (race days) were great with my Race Prepped EB Mods engine. Unfortunately, that was not the case today. After a few practice laps, I noticed that my car was not quickly responding to my throttle. It was not bogging down, but just not going as soon as pulled the trigger. Well....that was the case about every 4th or 5th "pull".

After tweaking the tuning, I went back out for another quick lap before the track went hot for my first qualifier of the day. Track went hot as I neared the line and my car, I THOUGHT, stalled. My pit man grabbed it and I couldn't understand why he kept motioning for me to try to give it gas. Was sure he should be able to tell that it was not running...but it WAS running.

The carb had seized in the closed position and I could not race....at least not that race, and not at all with that engine.

I've heard of a few others having carb problems with their JS engines, but I've got less than a gallon through this engine and can't understand why I would have this problem so early on. Of course today's race was a big one, and a "pay race", at that! ...hence the extra frustration, but I guess that's when bad things are worse!! I'll get over it, as soon as I fix this problem.

Any ideas?? Can I get the carb replaced easily enough?? Is there another carb that would fit while I wait?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

That's what I've been hearing. And despite how I may have worded my description last night after becoming very aggravated at a big race, I'm actually trying to give EB Mods the benefit of the doubt. I've been racking my brain all night, trying to figure out if I did something wrong, but it's not been repositioned in the buggy since I last used it and it worked great....until yesterday. Was kind of hoping that this was a common enough problem that someone might have a "quick fix" to offer.

I'll take the engine out today and see if I can find any problems. If not, guess I'll be sending it back to be repaired/replaced. In the meantime, I'm still looking for any good suggestions (quick fixes).

Thanks!!

Gotta +1 this....
I'm a Werks guy and Ed bent over backwards at the races one day to help me out. Turns out it wasn't an engine issue, my RC8 clutch pins had elongated causing the bell to hang up. Nevertheless Ed spent a ton of time helping me on a day he was racing.

Customer service is a reason to buy or not buy a product IMO. Talk to Ed I'm sure he'll bring the smile back.

Binding was my first thought, too. We all know that sometimes that tiny little jolt knocks more stuff loose than long cartwheel down the straightaway, but I disconnected the linkage and it's still frozen.

I have no doubts that it'll get taken care of. I've got plenty of back-ups to get me through a few race weekends, but I really like how this engine has done in the races that I have used it. Despite this set-back, I still believe that it's one sweet mill!!!

Try backing the idle screw out and take the barrel out and inspect it.

Well, finally found time to get my engine out of the buggy and the carb seems to be just fine. The more I look into it, the more it looks like something was hanging up (probably the linkage hitting the fuel tank). Guess I'm just an idiot because I swear that it seemed to be stuck without the linkage. Oh well, I'm not going to be upset over NO problem!!!!
