Well for everyone that doesnt know Bryce he is a great engine tuner and races almost every weekend. He has been doing it for a while now with great success and will only get better.I dont know anyone on here and most dont know me but I think people should leave there opinions to themselves about other people. As for Joe he is a great guy and hooks me up as much as he can.I've never had an issue with him and I really dont know why this all is going on still.Anyway good luck to everyone this summer season and I hope to make it to more out of state races this year and I am going to be running eb js so watch out.lol

As a sponsored driver you have all the help you should need with Joe or ED. As one person had said before, Joe is more than willing most times to give you his personal number, although I am sure he wished he had not given it to me, as I called him on Mothers day about my motor when I sucked up have of Fun-Time Hobbies dirt, sorry for calling you on Mothers day Joe. The very next day we tried cleaning the motor out replacing the bearings, then tried to get it to run. Peter Martin from TKO bearings had I think both Joe and Ed on the phone trying to help. Needless to say the motor was toast. I can understand why as a sponsored driver they would not want you to post on here about motor related issues, as they are always there for you to call. I can say sometimes what you but in an email or post on this site, after the fact may not sound the way you meant it to sound as well. I have read all of what was Bryce has posted and although I don't think what he posted the first time sounded bad against the engine, but even he came back two posts later to state he was not unhappy about the motor just unhappy with losing the lead. So even Bryce though it might have sounded bad. This is why this stuff should be handled through your sponsor not on here. Anyone thinking about buying one of these motors please believe me when I tell you Ed, Peter Martin, or Joe will be there for you every steep of the way.

Car ran GOOD power was good BUT outa the corner it had a nice stream of smoke but started to disappear on the top end. BUT it was only running 8-9min maybe 10 MAX. Running about 230-250. I figured it was LEAN with the temp and smoke but run time showed it was rich....

SO in my un-sponsored sophomore season my question is WAS it too rich on bottom and lean on top?

BTW temp inside the building was ABOUT 70degrees it varied but that'd be the average

Eric-

No one can answer that for you online. There are too many factors that can cause shortened run times. Bring it over to our pit tables at Dirt Burners this weekend and Aaron can get your tune straight.

sounds like you got it close, but i would try to richin the top and lean the bottom some, if you over lean the bottom the power will fade especially if you drive hard. also as you get it dialed in your run time will increase. Also you will pick up about a min in run time with ebmods fuel over byrons so if you confused as to why some of our team guys are reporting better run times then what your experiencing that is why. good luck and lmk how it goes.

Joe thanks for the clarification on runtime! I'm still happy with my JS. Great power through out the power band!

I am a current EB MODS team driver and am very honored to be. I have raced the "race prepped version" in truggy for 3 months and have around 4 gallons on it. Never flames out or changes tune to any drastic degree. I run a p4 and 086 pipe and is the only combo I recommend. At least here in Iowa. The plug I may change when it gets hot out. If I do I will then go to a p5. I have a freind that I sold one of these to used a os 2050 pipe and the motor was way off on tune. He didnt have an086 so I borrowed him a older mugen/grp fls pipe and it worked really well. So stick with what for the most part the team drivers recommend and you will be fine. One other note these motors in my experiance dont like to run real hot or lean on the top. But when tuned properly will run with any of them out there.
And as far as being a team driver think of it this way. If somebody was driving/sponsored for lets say "Lowes in Nascar" and decided to tell the public in an interview that he was very upset with the company for some aparent reason and he never told his sponsor. They found out about it thru a news source or something. What do you think that would be like? I also signed a contract with EBMODS and if I have a problem "which I havnt yet" I would contact Ed or Joe directly. Think of it this way. They are your PART TRIME boss for running there stuff. If you dont abide to there rules or in this case a contract then I guess your not a good fit. And they want a good team to represent there product no matter how good it is. If you decide to run a companys stuff under contract stick to it in a profesional way.
Well thats my 2 cents and if anyone wants to get ahold of me and get some tuning help or anything please feel free to contact me via email at [email protected]
Thanks, David Bradford

Well, between the 15th being the last day of tax season (my wife is an accountant) and it looks like we are done with the white stuff in the midwest (I work for a municipality south of chicago and plow in the winter time) I am going to the track friday with the new motors in both my Mugens!!!! Can't wait to run these motors! :D

Alan D. 04-12-2010 07:31 PM

I'm really excited to try the race prep in my Hot Bodies D8. A friend of mine runs these with an RE-10 and it screams down the straights. It's also been super reliable, no flame outs. I'll be switching from the JX Ninja.

bcarter007 04-12-2010 07:34 PM

welp ive got 1 full modded 4sale has 1 gallon on it $250 shipped 1 race prep with 7 tanks on it $225 shipped since u guys think these motors are the bomb then pm box should be full by morning with takers....lmao

LMAO @ the smokescreen.

Matt Gosch 04-12-2010 08:43 PM

I have been using the race prep engine now for three weeks and the engine is really good. I have been running a 2050 pipe on it, but will be switching to the 086 pipe very soon. The engine has been running very strong, getting good run time and staying pretty cool. I just ran a 30 minute main indoors and it came off at 216.

Trevor Williams 04-12-2010 08:47 PM

congrats on your TQ/win Matt @ the Missouri state ProSeries rd1!!!.... I got my race prep in truck bro, it's good so far, was leading Saturdays race and truck broke :( cya soon bud ;)

Matt Gosch 04-12-2010 08:56 PM

Thanks Trevor, stuff was real good all weekend. Get those breaking issues fixed and win the dang main next time, GOSH! You'll like the new engines.

Trevor Williams 04-12-2010 09:04 PM

I snapped a rear Xtreme Racing CF tower, stock towers are back on

T Wright, I wish I could make it out to DB, but I have some stuff going on with school this weekend and next weekend, so sometime next week I will be down there to practice and try some new stuff out.

jpalessi 04-14-2010 10:53 AM

Matt, if you have any of the old ebmods 2041 pipes give that a try when testing. I love it on my truck!

TRArena 04-14-2010 12:39 PM

Hey guys, I was hoping to get a few answers on Ed's modded version....

1. As I understand it, the difference between stock and full mod is silicon filled crank, ceramic bearings (is this both main and front?), lightened piston, sleeve and rod. The actual porting remains the same / similar i.e. little if any changes are made from the stock. Have I missed anything?
2. Is the p/s/r lightened by milling material from the stock p/s/r or is a different (lighter) material used?
3. Has Ed posted up some Dyno results of the stock -v- modded versions?

Cheers

Mike.

Bife 04-14-2010 02:23 PM

Which pipe for this engine ?

The full mod engine uses all the same parts, just the piston, rod, and crank is lightened for faster acceleration and higher RPM.. Crank is also balanced and silicone filled. Full mods have a TKO ceramic rear bearing. parts are all milled in house by Ed.
No dyno comparisons have been posted yet..

The engine is not very pipe sensitive, so first i would try what you have and see if you cant find one you like. Many ppl seem to like the 086, 9901, 2041, 2050/2060, just to mention some.

blktransam 04-14-2010 06:28 PM

the AE2035 is my pipe of choice thus far...on both engines, nin buggy and truggy..

I would keep trying pipes... you should be getting over 10 in both easy. (w/ebmods fuel)

bopracer 04-14-2010 10:18 PM

Anyone used a RE11 with the JS? It is only one I have at the moment. I am in New Zealand and we don't have very big tracks here with large jumps.

blktransam 04-15-2010 05:20 AM

sorry Joe I had a typo..the "nin" in my prevous post was supposed to be "and" LMAO...and yes I get over 10 on both engines in both buggy and truggy. and yes I also use EB mods fuel...

chim13 04-15-2010 06:00 AM

Hello all. I have been running the full mod in my buggy and the race prep in my truggy now, for about four gallons. Both engines have gotten stronger as i have been running them and both have great compression. On inspection of the engines running eb fuel and a 086 pipe, both engine are very clean and show no sign of significant wear. I have every bit of confedence that i will be getting many more gallons trough each. I live in north east ohio and run at tracks all over ohio, pa, new york and michigan, if you need any help or have questions from that local area i would be more than happy to try and help. Joe and Ed are the have supported me in every way that i could have possibly wanted so i would like to return the favor when ever possible. Also if you have not tried one of these engines you are only holding yourself back, great on fuel, tons of power and top end that would make a gun jealous. I can't imagine wanting more from either power plant at prices that make the big companies shake their heads. On top of great engines if you want more security on making them last treat them to Lucky7 products to keep the dirt out too.:nod:

snowman6869 04-15-2010 12:53 PM

How long has it taken for anyone to recieve their engine after it was shipped?

blktransam 04-15-2010 01:56 PM

should only take a few days...should be able to get a tracking number from Joe or Ed if it has taken longer.

Ryan

Ran both the truggy and buggy Friday night with the new motors (put the fully modded in the truggy and the race prep in the buggy) and all I can say are these motors rip!!! Didn't touch the fully modded and just leaned the race prep about 2 hours on the top end and thats it. Really impressed with the power of these motors, can't wait for the outdoor season. Thanks to Ed and Joe for all the support, keep up the good work guys.
