i helped a buddy with his new stock vox this week, this weekend it ran flawless. if i had his motor in my car we would have had a great weekend. with about 10 tanks on it it is running a very consistent 236f with plenty of smoke and power. we tried to lean it a couple hours but it started lean bogging after a couple laps, went back out 2 hours and the tune was dead on again. run times with the 2035 were not great yet but he did get his hands on a 086hs so we'll see how it goes. even if it only gets like 8 minutes per tank its an awesome motor. only complaint (not bad if this is the worst thing that can happen) would be for the head to taper towards the bottom to make the motor mount screws easier to get to. great job on this motor ed.

awesome! you can also try a 2060, 9901, or 2041. these seem to becoming the popular pipes of choice besides the 086. all the pipes mentioned will get 10+ min running ebmods fuel. thats the perfect way to get the top dialed lean to you get that bog then back out 2 hrs and its dead on. the idle comes set out of teh box so you can try leaning the bottom till the idle jump then back it out 2hrs and it dialed. if you feel the bottom can be leaned more from that point then you can but the idle may need a 1/8 in either direct to get the PERFECT tune. NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO TURN THE IDLE MORE THEN 1/8 IN EITHER DIRECTION TO GET THE OPTIMUM TUNE. if you do your lsn is off....

wow!! well let me see here.....i have posted a question about flamming out and how i wasnt happy about losing the race not that i wasnt happy about the motors, but now my sponsorship has been terminated because i asked a simple question that was misunderstood? thanks joe alessi what piece of work u are!! i have been a positive influence on EB Mods line of fuel and motors and i had to spend $610 dollars of my own money to even get the stuff and this is how u repay ur team drivers? i have had my doubts from the beginning and now it is confirmed. 1 gallon on a full modded and it flames out!!! what a waste of money.......not to mention the only the difference between a full modded and race prep is a putty filled crank and ceramic bearing? ya we pulled them both apart and the rods are the same piston and sleeve are exactly the same!!! so what are u trying to sell to fellow racers? u advertise a fully modded motor but perform no mods to it? im surprised no one else has ask the same question wtf am i getting for my money? nothing but putty and a bearing......at one gallon the coated crank pin has worn off....wow what a great crank that is!! the sad thing is we have compared 3 full modded to 3 race prepped motors at the track and its the same thing....all that have a gallon or more the cranks are worn and there is no difference between the motors??? Future buyers beware!!!!! save ur money
and i will post pics to show exactly what im talking about |
Bitter cause of his sponsorship termination.

and i will post pics to show exactly what im talking about I see you didnt read your contract! which is part of the reason your sponsorship was terminated... ppl think sponsorships are about handouts and thats just not the case... if a team driver has a problem he or she is to contact ME and i will always do my best to help. you on the other hand did not. The forums are extremely powerful and many comments get blown out of proportion which is exactly why you were terminated. ppl have to understand accepting a sponsorship comes with great responsibility and obligation. And on the Full mod engines that you and your engine expert friends think you know about. you know nothing! the piston is lightened, the rod is lightened, the crank is lightened & balanced., AND it comes with a tko bearing a filled crank. can't tell you how many times we've gotten phone calls about "this engine isn't modded" even back in the day with EB vspecs. just because an engines not hacked up with a dremal doesn't mean its not modded. Bottom line is Bryce I realized you are NOT a good team driver and had to terminate your sponsorship just as i would anyone else who breached their contract. |
Since you've been cut how bout you send me that half mod as you say and some EB fuel for 100 bucks. :)

So far my engines have been great. Will be doing a little more testing next weekend with a completely new buggy to me. I will be trying different pipes, and restrictors in the motors too, to see if I can get just the right feel for my driving style. Try to find the balance point of power and runtime.
2 weeks later is the RC Pro series race #1 down here in the south east. Stephen |

joe... just talked with ed at ebmods. looks like he will be giving you a call today.. also i dont see any reason to give either you or bryce an infraction or time off. i think bryce could have done things in a pm or phone call.. i think you could have given him a phone call or pm also..
with the team thing that is for you guys to work out or decide... i want no part of that.... i think bryces comments are well within rctech rules and was just asking a question.... so both joe and bryce please take a break from posting or give each other a call and work things out... that is what teammates are suppose to do... thank you. |

bryce, I was having a hard time with my full mod with no bottom end and it would have a random flameout, changed out my front bearing and everything was good again...engine had just shy of 1 gallon on it. so check that out maybe I just had a bad bearing (wont be the last time a front bearing went bad premature on any engine brand)....both of my engines are running great right now TQd truggy yesturday and was leading when I flammed out (idle was set to low :)) I am one of them guys that likes a REALLY low idle..and I need to just bump up my idle a tad and be happy lol....not the engines fault at all. quald 4th in buggy top 6 were within 2 seconds so it was some great racing tried a diff. tire in the main and went the wrong way to say the least!

JBRL Series Round 1
Well round one of the JBRL series went off this weekend. All I have to say is wow what a great motor. I had a rough go of it, had a servo go in each round of qualifying. End up in the E main bump out of it with a win by over 30 seconds, 10 minute main and no stop. Great run time. Had about an 1/8 of an inch of fuel left. D main went good until about the 3 minute mark I think. That EB Mod power took me from the 11 starting position to second place in about 3/4 of a lap. Had a left rear A arm break about the 3 minute point and I was out watching from that point on. Must of had the tune spot on, as I too tried leaning out the top and it started lean bogging (want to make sure I made the 10 minute D main as I new I would have to push it a little harder as I got up the ladder in mains) we went back out one hour and it rain great. I would like to thank Ed for getting my new motor sent out to me for this race, and Joe for all the help to date. Almost forgot, Joe the Lucky & filters worked great all weekend. Well I know things will go better at the next race, as I think I have had all the back luck hit me in one race. PS I would like to thank Peter Martin from TKO bearings for all of his help at the track this weekend.

Emails
Joe have you been getting my emails. I sent a couple in the last month and have got no response back. We had a problem here with our emails, but I normally get a return on them when they don't go through.
Thanks |

WOW!!!!!!!!!
I have been on the fence between Alpha Plus and JS and I can say that this thread made up my mind for me. If this is how a team driver is treated I can't wait to see how an average racer is treated when he has problems. I think the public knowing that even team guys flame out is a good thing. We can also then see what resolved the issue which is also good knowledge. Instead the issue is resolved by booting someone off the team???? What a crock!!! Funny you guys treat this thread like it is an EB Mods website. Like Houston said, this is an OPEN forum and people can say whatever they want here. If all you want is good press why don't you start your own site where you can ban everyone that has something bad to say. At least now I don't have to worry about this plug or that plug or this pipe or that pipe. |

just like Bryce your missing the point.... so i'll say it again slowly... if bryce was an average joe there was nothing wrong with his post. BUT as a team driver you must stick to the rules of your contract, and one of them is if you have ANY questions or issues you are to contact ME. some guys on our team just didn't bother to read the contract cause some guys dont care about what WE want, they just want discounts. Sponsorship is a 2 way street and we expect our team guys to work with US on making better products not work with the public as things always get blown waaay out of proportion on fourms.. that is why bryce or any other team guy for that matter will be terminated. If you bother to read back we'll see I'm on here daily helping customers and giving all the support needed to have success with our engines.. Good luck with your decision.
SLOWLY huh.... You think your smarter than me Mr. I work for a toy car company?? I was gona just drop this with my last post but you are a real piece of work. I understand he was a team driver (Since your soo smart I figured you would have read that in my post) and like my post says it's good for the public to see team drivers also have issues. It offers us some light on what caused the issue and what might fix it if we have the problem. That's ok you just keep sweeping the negative under the carpet and see where it gets you. I have been reading this thread for quite some time, I am glad you consider what you do help cause it looks to me like all you do is tell people they are running the wrong plug or the wrong pipe. Maybe you should try to help people get things working with what they have rather than write it off as wrong plug wrong pipe. Does your contract state it's OK to come on forums and treat people like idiots?? I am guessing not.... Way to represent man!!! Thanks for making up my mind for me. |

Let me ask you this.. if your a team driver and you have a issue do you call your sponsor who designed the engine or do you ask the public who has only been running them for maybe 3 months??? its just common sense if you ask me.. oh and your welcome. |
joe is right he should have contacted joe or edd first if theres a problem. I know if i ever have a tunning problem or anything motor related its always been trying to contact someone in the company. everyone who runs the js engine should feel great as if there is ever a problem you can actually get ahold of someone who knows about the engine not a person setting at a desk with a trouble shooting manual that you cant undestand half the time lol.
also i watch edd and joe at many races going around helping people tune there engines team member and non team and even ppl not even running there motors. heck i think i seen edd tunning more at motorama then anything else it was like a waiting line lol... |
MY JS STILL RUNNING STRONG GREAT MOTOR. I JUST THINK PEOPLE LIKE TO THINK THEY KNOW HOW TO TUNE MOTORS AND DON't SO THEY FLAME OUT AND LIKE TO BLAME THE MOTOR BUT IT's THERE OWN FAULT SO GO CRY TO YOURSELF
|
Well IF I was a team driver I personally would go to the people that sponsor me, but maybe he was fed up with your wrong plug, wrong pipe answers. I am going to assume this guy was a 50% driver so really he is just another customer as you guys are still making money on him.
At this point I don't care if he violated every part of his contract cause I now see how you treat people and find it funny how you think your better than others. Keep telling people wrong plug, wrong pipe so you can chalk it up as another happy customer in your own little delusional world. |

All this drama needs to be dropped. The thread needs to get back to everyone raving on and sharing information on their EB Mods JS Racing Engine! ;) |
the only reason ed and joe tell you guys different plugs and pipes is because everyone uses different ones. i still run a p4 and still runs great i ran a jp3 pipe yesterday on my js and ran great but not good fuel milage but its all about the drivers feel and how they drive. everyone trys different setups and so does ed. ed probably has a hundred different pipes at his shop that hes tried and hes letting us know how they work with his motors. everyone has there own choice new pipes and plugs come out all the time so its hard to test eveything on the market thats why theres team drivers testing everyday and reporting to joe and ed. so stop ranking on them and get out and race and HAVE FUN
|
correct please get back on point... any and all engines have flame outs at some point or another... does this mean every engine made has a problem??? yes... because it is the guy that is turning the screwdriver in or out on the needles... with success you first have to fail (and you might do this alot or just a little) to achieve your goal....
now get back on point i have talked/pm'ed the guys involved if any more of the stuff keeps going on guys will be getting some time off of rctech..... and no i do not run for ebmods.. i did have a good phone conversation with ed this morning concerning this issue... let the team things get settled by the team........................ move on from this and get back to normal talk about the good and the maybe not so good but keep it honest and in control. joe is here to answer any and all questions.... remember we are just talking about toy cars..... |
BACK ON TOPIC
this weekend at an INDOOR race i ran my JS RacePrep with a DYN 086 and P4, Byrons 30/11, with DYN MaxLife Shoes with 1.0 springs and a 7mm restricter in a Jammin X2. Car ran GOOD power was good BUT outa the corner it had a nice stream of smoke but started to disappear on the top end. BUT it was only running 8-9min maybe 10 MAX. Running about 230-250. I figured it was LEAN with the temp and smoke but run time showed it was rich.... SO in my un-sponsored sophomore season my question is WAS it too rich on bottom and lean on top?    BTW temp inside the building was ABOUT 70degrees it varied but that'd be the average |
