i have been having fuel tank issues with my cars .... i know in truggy i should be in the 8-10 range 2 weeks ago testing with a leaking fuel tank :P , but my buggy is not going to make it this weekend, i went thru 3 tanks in the last 2 days ,2 of those where brand new and they leaked .... all 3 tanks leaked air at the seal on the lid ... not happy camper so im looking for a car for the weekend or a new tank that wont leak LOL ... i race with both chris and ernest so i will have to let them try that pipe when we have practice one day thnx Will G

That sucks Will.... maybe cut a sliver of heatshrink a couple mm's wide to go behind the oring and shrink it in place to push alittle on the oring? I did this at a race years ago on a kyosho tank that was leaking and it saved my butt.

Luckily my tanks have been good on my HB's.... maybe you got old stock thats sat around forever?

after reading through this thread i just had to get one of these engines they sound like awesome bang for buck and no one else at the track down here races one just alpha's and go's and the odd o.s which as we all know are nothing special for their trendy price tag, just made order should have my JS 521R on friday just in time for the weekend break in whats a good method you guys found with breaking this engine in? just the typical heat cycle method?

I just bought a race prepped engine from Amain. I borrowed one with 4+ gallons on it last week for my buggy and I was thoroughly impressed with it. I ran it with a Reedy 2039 pipe/header combo and after the first qualifier, I had to go up one tooth on my clutch bell to tame down the low end a little more. I like my low end power to be more linear and since I'm going to run this engine at the Psycho Nitro race and I was wondering if I should stay with the 2039, go to the 086 pipe or try a Nova 9901 pipe? (I have a heavy trigger finger resulting from my "pin it to win it" motocross days in the past) Any suggestions to help me get up to speed and used to this engine would definitely be appreciated since the Psycho Nitro race is only 2 weeks away!

Thanks!

With my raceprep I idled one tank and went easy for a couple tanks... then let er rip. After 2 gallons I still cant turn it over by hand in the car

I just picked up a 2039 to try, as well a a dyn 053. Seems most are using the 053 but watched a couple run with 2035's and figured the 2039 would be similar but smoother down low. You should be fine either way, its probably a pretty small difference.

Default Advice

I guys, I have just pulled down and put back my JS and for some reason the carb is moving slightly in the sleeve. I have tightened the screw as much as I can but it still moves. What have I done?

Cheers.

did you remove the screw or loosen it to take the carb out?

I removed the screw and took the carb right out. It's just now when I have put it back that it moves slightly in the sleeve. Have I screwed it too tight previously?

Hello and sorry to hear about the wiggle in your carburetor. The good news is, if you use an air sealant at the base, this shouldn't cause any tuning, or engine issues.

This isn't caused from over tightening the clinch, but instead from "twisting" the carb to "break" the clinch after loosening the clinch screw. Anytime you clinch the carburetor down it is best to completely remove the clinch bolt and the clinch assembly when needing to remove the carburetor. If you do it this way, the carburetor will pull straight out effortlessly and last a long time.

EBMods and JS Racing had an excellent showing at Motorama, all of the JS engines I tuned Saturday were ripping, and I seen a few others on the track that sounded really good. Almost every heat had JS engines in them, sometimes 3 or more

I can't wait for the outdoor season
