I'm hoping you guys can help me accurately identify this motor that I just got in a trade. The motor is apparently a rear-exhaust, 3-port, standard plug, standard crank, black head with a 3-needle slide carb.

http://www.apexspeed.com/doug/random.../sirio_001.jpg

It will be going into a dirt oval sprint car where torque and top end can be used everywhere. Is there anything you can tell me about this motor and what I should look for? It has been broken in already, but not any car time.

I tried the rest of this thread, but I only had the patience to get to page 6 of 21. Thanks for your help.

It ˇs an old 3 port Sirio S12 TRP AF, prior to the new Evo2 engines. It should be ok for dirt racing. It's not as fast as the new ones, but i guess that for dirt racing to much power would be difficult to put on the ground.

Actually, getting as much power as possible isn't a bad thing. On clay, our cars will literally wheelstand off the corners. Power isn't a bad thing. Maybe I'll use this motor to get the car rolling and then look to a new Sirio or RB 5-port.

Thanks for the info.

12 conrod

Hi,

I believe all .12 conrods are interchangeable between the first .12 black head and the new evo2 engines. Can someone confirm?

How may types of .12 conrods and wrist pins are there?

I just want to get ready so I know what part numbers to ask for when I change the conrod in my newer engine (AAC blue head one before the new evo2).

It's correct, same part number for all .12 engines

S12 051020 wrist pin .12
S12 070020 conrod .12
S12 060010 cir-clips .12 (10)

AFM to the rescue!
Thanks again mate, I hope Sirio are paying you or give you free engines or something for your knowledge about their engines and helping out everyone here on the forum.

I will be racing with STS and Sirio / Collari depending on race.

here´s a pic from my then brand new sirio evo 2, 3 port threaded shaft, got it from tower as soon as they were available last year at 160 minus 25 with at that time discount, as you can see, it came with the small head and the sleeve seems aac, weird since the box said abc and it came with both standard and turbo button heads. and the broken conrod.

and two moths later i purchased from tower also, the sirio 5 port evo 2 sg shaft, just came with one button head but with the big cylinder head, broken shaft without explanation, the funny thing is that this engine is as fast as the other 3 port threaded shaft which I used it on my xxx nt, and later I lend it to a friend so he could give it a try on his ntc3(even faster but not as my mtx3 with the 5 port).
costs of reparations, 55 for the shaft and 34 for the conrod, both purchased at trinity shopatron. and now I just checked sirio´s web page it has different number of parts for both my engines, I suppose that corrections have been made but unfortunately trinity (great service,,, not) does not have in stock, damn not even posted. so I suppose that i purchased the same things that I just broke and they call it great service.....!

So you are one more on the list of people who have been "unserviced" by Trinity...unfortunately that is why Sirio doesnt have a good reputation on USA.

AFM, these are the pipes you recommended for the Werks LC12
Is this based on your peronal experience with the engine? Werks doesn't list the Mielke pipe you mention on their site.

How about the Sirio 2611 pipe used at the Worlds?

Also, I've been searching everywhere for an online source for the Sirio pipes but no such luck. Any good reliable places to get them?

Thanks.

Yes, these are based on my 3 years experience with Sirio and 1 year experience with Collari engines.

The best allround pipe is the Sirio, and what I listed is the part number. The 2611 is the homologation number engraved on the pěpe. You can find them here:

http://www.hobbyredaelli.com/ under Listino (price list) they have all the pipes under Raccordi e marmitte

The Werks pipe is same design as M.Mielke, and it gives you more top end, but sacrificing some low end. Look here:

http://werksracing.com/product.do?sku=WRX6600C

The Novarossi pipe was the one used in the Dyno test done to the Werks LC 12 by RC Nitro Magazine in January issue.
