I ran my XXX this weekend. First let me say a few things. I was very lazy and did not "properly" break this engine in. I went to the Crystal Park toys for tots race this weekend.
I arrived on Friday at around 1:30pm. I installed the engine into the car with only a flywheel on it. I ran 3 tanks on the engine sitting in the car like that with the needles set a bit leaner than how they came. It seemed too rich to stay running with the out of the box settings.
After each of those three tanks I would let it sit for a few mins and then go again. After those three tanks I put the clutch on and did a bench tune. I then went out and started race tuning the engine. The reason I give all this info is I can say the only real "problems" I had were the engine locking up on the box a few times, and during the main, the engine went rich on me a few times. I kind of expect that since the engine was still breaking in during all my race time. It has a total of about 1/2 gallon of Losi Nitrotane 30% run through it after racing has completed.
Now I will say this engine is quite fast. It had great punch using the Kyosho clutch. I used the 2d clutch with 4 flyweights and a grey shoe. It also has great top end. I am really impressed so far with this engine. I cannot comment on fuel consumption at this time. This race was run using 7 min qualifiers so I didn't even do a timed run.
The price on this engine didn't go up compared with the EVO 4 and like I said I thought it was very good. If you are looking for an Italian Engine give this one a shot. It is another good one like the Picco's and the Nova's.
FYI: I ran the Sirio 2611 pipe and manifold (the old version of the pipe).

The correct setting of such an engine is depending a lot on the used exhaust, fuel and the weather. To get the best out of it you have to know how to adjust an engine and with that the factory settings is not needed.

Hi guys,
I just received my very first Sirio engine,a .12 Evo4 STI.
I took it apart and everything looks very nice, but one thing caught my attention.
The head button sits very loosely in the sleeve and has some considerable play.
Is this normal?
I am used to Picco and NR engines, where you can only pull the button out of the sleeve when the plug is removed, and even then the stick pretty tight.
Also, the Sirio head button has a groove around the part that goes into the sleeve. Is that there to seal?
I can only imagine, that the button expands so heavily that it"ll seal correctly once the engine is hot, otherwise I would expect major blow by.
Thanks for your input.

I have a CL7B STi with turbo head button and Sirio 2013. I ran it in my Hyper 8.5 Pro and it was doing good, still breaking in at about 1.5 gallons. I put the enging in my Hyper 9 and now it wont tune, it leans out after running a bit and starts going way hot. Running OS P3 plugs. Started it, got it up to temp, blocked off intake and it shut off immediatly so I assume no air leaks even after re-sealing motor. Also checked fuel tank and it is holding pressure. I dont know what the problem is, it keeps killing glow plugs also, any suggestions? I havent been able to run my Hyper 9 yet due to this, any help greatly appreciated

have you tried using sirio plugs? because some times other brands dont seat properly in the head button ,it could be sucking air through there especially when the head button expands when it heats up it would make it worse
