Monty, you have a text message waiting for ya.

beidle99 03-16-2013 05:34 AM

AZNITRONUT,
how do you like the 9901/41001 combo on your btt? I have the both the 9901 and the 2096 with the 41021. Found the 9901/41021 to be to flat on the top end for me. I like the feel of the 2096/41021, but human nature always wants to try something to see if its better.

In my opinion, with the 9901/41001, I feel there is more power from the bottom all the way through the
top end, I can't tell you the difference in fuel economy, in the buggy, at the DNC race, I could not make 10 minutes on one tank, it fell short about 45 seconds or so. Not sure what the 2096/41021 economy is.

Monty, you and I were right. I still do not know for sure what was causing my OS engine to keep quitting but I do know it was not the engine. Same clutch, bearings and pipe, everything the same on the engine but it is now on the XB9 and it ran perfectly. The crank bolt was very close to the tank on the Mugen, you can see where other flywheels have rubbed on it, the Werks has the Losi clutch and flywheel while the OS had the factory Xray flywheel and clutch setup with the big square head crank bolt not the rounded one. I did need to tune a bit and do a little adjusting as the day got hot, but I also found a small leak in my fuel line on the Xb9 but once I got the leak fixed it ran like a champ. We also have a new track

What engine do you think will do the best, the X5L or the X3L?
These are the tracks I will be racing on the most as I think they will be shutting down the smaller older ones.

Those are some badass tracks !

Doesnt look like much traction though , killer layouts and awesome size though

X5 lightning will not be as tractable as X3 lightning , you cant go wrong either way Jerome

Yeah traction sucks, I found out yesterday proline calibers suck on the first track. Maybe next weekend or the following one I will try out the new track. The cityblocks work ok, but mainly I have to use a pin tire like the Enduro or crimefighter for the best results, but with my XB9 it still gets loose in the rear from time to time.

Want to take a second to thank Monty for taking the time to answer all my questions during the purchase, break in, and then tuning of the X5. We ran the X5 over the weekend at the RC Pro Series race in Belton, Tx. and it ran flawlessly, had lots of smooth tractable power, and good run time( even with the 8mm restrictor, hot plug and conservative tune ). If you're looking for a good race engine and great customer service give Monty a call!

TQ and won the Int. Buggy A not bad for first weekend with HES power!
