i have a bonito with about 4 gallons on it and another with about 3. the 3 galllone one runs great 10 min + runtime and is predictable idles down perfectly. the four gallon one does not idle down well, after a run it idles high for a bit not terrible then idles real low and shuts off. i can turn the idle up a bit and it wont shut off but the high idle after a high speed pass is annoying it definately has less compression than the other but I have never been able to set the carbs the same it would always run lean if i matched the carbs and it hit 360 once or twice lost a fuel pressure line. is it just tired and needs a rebuild or pinch? carb setting is flush or slightly above on lsn and flush on hsn.

i would put new rod/wristpin and resize it at the very least , sometimes the block will warp when the engine hits those temps causing some serious tuning issues also

Full Monty Fusion X3
 
I have finished the break in on the Full Monty edition of the Fusion X3. I did have HES do an initial break in and I finished up running about 3/4 of a gallon of 30% O'Donnell Speed Blend through it.

I was very impressed with this little 3 port upon initial inspection and early break in. Smooth consistent idle from the first start. I am running a M2C variable weight clutch with all of the supplied grub screws (12 I think), regular aluminum shoes and .95 springs all around on a Werks 2058 pipe/header. My carb is set close to a final race tune and she will come in at around 210-220f after each tank.

I chose this engine because I was looking for a dedicated buggy engine with a nice linear power band that would not ramp up to quickly, yet provide enough low end grunt to clear a wicked triple-quad section we have at our track. I was initially concerned that this little 3 port might lack on the bottom, knowing full well it would scream on top. That concern has been put to bed :nod:

Not only do I have more than enough bottom end, I did not have to aggressively tune my clutch to get that low end. I was floored when I noticed my buggy was doing mini wheelies out of corners when I would get on the gas :D (on well worn tires I might add).

I will be shooting some video in the next couple of weeks to better demonstrate the performance of this engine. For now I can say that Monty has done a very nice job squeezing every ounce of the performance this little 3 port can provide through some nice clean modifications (tuned as Monty would prefer it:))and some nice upgrades to the button and bearings.

I am also hoping to demonstrate the performance of this engine versus another well know modded engine from our friends up North ;). I can truly say that I think this engine can hold it own against any other modded 3 or 5 port out there.

Had monty build me one of these for the exact reasons you stated above. I got almost a gallon on the FMX3. Bottom end is amazing. Haven't leaned the top out to much yet but I already know what its got. Very very very pleased with this mill. Perfect for a buggy.

Monty, I live in the Dallas area and need a new engine for my 8 scale buggy. I am tired of the OS engines. I am a intermediate driver. Jeff Dario recommended 2 different motors. The Plus4C Team and the P5XLT. I think I am going with the plus4C team . Also what pipe do you recommend for that motor? Which engine services should I get from you for that motor? I know I will be having you break it in. I will be racing around the texas area. I will be running VP fuel.

Monty thinking about buying a nova my first its the older style plus 21-5k its a standard plug but he's giving me a Turbo button. Whats your opinion with this motor and its performance hows the power band will it be better suited for buggy or truggy.
