Houston/Monty,

My fuel inlet on my hsn is turned in a way that my fuel line is kinda kinked do to its position. The carb is turned as much as it can be. Its angled to the inside and away from the tank. Is there a way to turn the hsn any so it will face the other way ? Im thinking of sending it to you for a mod job but its only got 1 gallon on it. Should I wait until about 4 gallons so you can change the bearings/rod if need be ? I would rather someone with experience turn the hsn if it can be. Can you do this also ?

turning the fuel inlet banjo is fairly simple . use a 9/32 end wrench to loosen the hsn 'til it is just loose , rotate to desired position and retighten . do not overtighten but make sure it is snug . i dont recommend using pliers but it ups to you if you want your carb to be all scarred up

hope this helps ,
monty

just lmk when you need it done .

Thanks Monty. I have the 9/32 so I will give it a whirl. Just didnt want to try it without asking. You have been a great help with all the questions Ive asked. Thats good business for sure and I will be sending you this engine after I can buy another one. Most likely from you. I would like a plus 4 to have in the future. I just need to figure out this tuning thing first. Thats why I bought the cheaper 3 port first.

Didnt have the 9/32 as I thought but had the 7mm which worked the same. Just turned it to right where it needs to be. Simple enough. Thanks !!

i am glad it is weorking out for you , if you properly shim for 20% (.60mm) then you will experience better performance but you will be better off to use 30% and properly shim for that .

to each his own ;)

Can I ask why again? what does displacement has to do with nitro %? and why .60 for 20%? The more compresion you can obtain without detonation the better. Power is proportional to compression. I'm not trying to be a wise guy, I just want to understand the reason you say low compression is better. And high nitro is more power but also more fuel consuption, stress, wear, etc.

compression is a factor of the power until it becomes redundant and turns to pre ignition in the cylinder . these little nitro engines do run on compression strokes to ignite the fuel very similar to a diesel , the fuel is really not much more flammable than diesel until you seperate the components (diesel needs aeration (turbo)). combustion chamber volume needs to be matched to the amount of flammable material in a fuel 30% nitro = .80mm shims , 25% = .70mm, 20% = .60mm or there abouts(in novarossi engines) . the methanol mixed with the fuel burns very very cool and is really used as a filler ingredient in the fuel mixture . the lower oil content will use methanol to fill the fuel mixture equation up and produce lower running temps but also more chance for over lean conditions .

bottom line , you will know when your engine is happy  you will be able to use the same plug for a gallon or so and it will be clean burning creating little or no carbon build up on the exhaust components and piston .

it will make great power while running cool temps (under 300)

j/k :lol:240 or so

am i done yet ????

i would like to give a personal thanks to everybody who is supporting H.E.S. in supporting you guys . i try to provide a sense of ease to your nitro runnings and give all the help and support i possibly can . if you are a customer of H.E.S. you know what i mean;)

thanks a bunch and happy motorin',
monty
