I remember your 1st one Kijana. We were at XRC and you were bitching about how long it took for it to loosen up. What a mistake nova made ending the 421B. Glad to see the old school come back in the form of the X7, the jacked up 421!

Have you seen the inside of the x7 rob?

Not 421 or 821 , way different exhaust, different intake timings, better carb , better piston, better front bearing, the 15009 crank haas even undergone some factory casted in timing changes, not so the same , even has better low end

I think you need one so you can play with it ;)

Just didn't like the design personally

Portings/timings just no bottom

Can anything be done with one to make it useful in buggy?

What would you do to a X7 to make it better for buggy?

You can PM me the answer if you want.

I ran one this weekend and it fine. Sure it had lots of power but it was wayyyy easier to control than the toro team and fms and so on. those engines have weak bottom ends and so the power jumps in too late and causes all sorts of difficulty in keeping smooth and being flowing through the track, but the x7 is like a p5 or plus-4 that keeps on spinning, not a problem in buggy at all....

I guess what i'm saying is the x7 is powerful, but not a problem in buggy...

the X7 rocks in the buggy and in the truggy , i am 100% satisfied with this engine design , i can adjust timings in the crank pretty easily if anyone feels they need it smoother or harder hitting and there are even more things that can be done to the engine externally ( i.e., pipe, plug, clutch) that can change an engines feel much more .

i recommend X7 Xtreme for buggy (no modifications) and X7 Xtreme for truck (with modifications)

X7 Xtreme / 9901ss-41021 for buggy
X7 Xtreme HES tuned 9853ss-41021 0r 2096ss-41021

sub 41029 for mugen cars

Jaz240 06-29-2011 04:44 PM

when you coming back to race with us Monty? NitroCross?

Chris Reilly 06-29-2011 06:27 PM

Monty would the 2096 be to much for the X7 in buggy?

Thinking 2096 on my Crono RS5. Or is the 9901SS/41021 better?

Is the X7 similar to the RS7?;)

Does anyone have a good used newer style carb they can part with at a good price?

Yes sir i do know it's different. Just saying it's along that line, like an improved 421. Like i said before, Kevin's runs very well. It's right up there in the top 3 best running stock engines. I was impressed. Next on the list is a new ninja. I'm sure a X7 is around the bend, lol.

If you are a powerhound I guess the 2096ss would be a great buggy combo

Ran one this last weekend on the x7 at the best in the northwest challenge and I thought it was just right

Fairly big track , bumpy as all get out

Rs7 ? What's that :D let me say the rs7 was my favorite engine of all time ;)

Not a coincidence ;)

Dirtdobber 06-29-2011 07:27 PM

What difference can I expect with a standard plus 21-5 crankshaft in a FMS?

Usually a more direct but smoother power ramp up without the violent midrange hit , still good top

So on the X7 you liked the 9901SS/41021 best?

Now I wish I had bought a few RS7 engines when they were around. I was getting them a wholesale. Still do get everything at wholesale or less though. Just not sure if my friend has access to Nova Rossi right now. Account set up?

Ran the 2096ss/41021 last weekend on the buggy and it felt good , 9901ss/41021 always feels good in the buggy though

What would a back plate change do to an engine's performance? Changing stock FMS back plate for one that only has the groove for the piston skirt and is round.

Monty you are pacific time right? I'd like to put an order in tonight. I'll be off work at 9pm your time.
