Hey guys got a break in question. Doing the heat cycle break in with a novarossi plus 4. I got it in my buggy, heated the block and head with temp gun before starting. Wraped the head with a couple of layers if tin foil, then put it down and ran it around verying the throttle. Its about 45 degress in N.J. right now and its a warm day. I cant get the temps up past 150. I know I should be in the 200 range. I leaned it out alittle but didnt want to lean it too much. I have a race (motorama) coming up in a few weeks so I cant wait for warmer days. Any Ideas on getting the temp up towards 200 in the cold weather?

what I have had to do before is wrap in aluminum foil PLUS use a heat gun on it while it is running to keep the temps up...

I use foil and keep the body on as well.

i used the foil until someone told me to try 1/10 off road foams....it works perfect...give it a shot

I am not a fly by night Wes

I have been doing this stuff for a few years ;), I know what can make or brake engine tuning .

There are things you can do to improve all aspects of an engine without really effecting engine longevity and tunability . Then there are mods for looks that can easily destroy all the above mentioned , trust me I know . Live and learn ;)

is that a mixed bearing?^^??

houston 02-04-2010 08:54 AM

Hybrid ceramic/steel

Making the best front engine bearing even better, done all ceramic ones also .
Ceramic balls are not cheap though .

Thanks guys! I got over 30 mins of heat cycling on my motor now. I ended up using the foil, with body on and a sock over top of the foil. Got it up to 200 to 215 degrees. Ready for some track tuning at 85%!

r1harper 02-05-2010 07:18 PM

glad to hear it..be patient....and you will be rewarded well

Thinking about buying your P5XL/XLT. What plug, pipe, header do you suggest? The tracks I race at usually have big jumps out of corners with short run up. So i need some power but would like to stretch a pit to 8 1/2 if i had to. Also I have no experience with novarossi engines. Always just put a vspec in there. any help is appreciated. thanks

8.5 min. Pits? Interesting strategy ;)
