ok....got a nova .21bf modded by jim hottinger, need a rod for it. is there any other rod that will work or do i need a nova .21bf specific rod? i know they are only 34.00 new but was just wondering, found others that say will fit any .18 to .21 for 20.00, any help would be great, thanks, mike

N21R needle settings

Can anyone tell me what factory settings are for the N21R, what they should be for break in and what is a good tune setting?

Thanks!

Tim

if its an n21bf limited or n21r limited you can use the R7 (07009) rod , if it is the older n21b 2001 you will need 07030 . 99% sure on the old rod fitment and part#

r7 rod is 50$

factory on the n21r carb is 5 turns out on low speed ( pull slide barrel out , run screw in until it just stops , then backout to desired setting ) , high speed needle 4.25 turns out , idle 1.25 out from just closed .

race settings are usually around 3.75 turns on low speed , 3.5 turns out on high speed , 1turn out from just closed on idle screw .

any Q's just let me know ;)

Monty mine is 3 out on the lsn, and 1.5 out on the idle. Hopefully that's not too lean.

Those settings are very good starting points for any pipe combination , low end based pipes are usually a little rich onthe low compared to the high speed pipes ;)

Plus 4 team's and p5xlt's available as well as competition heat heaters , 2084ss pipes and 9901ss pipes , get em while you can ;)

Monty, how does the 2084 pipe do on the FMS? Compared to the 9901?

Well i'm not Monty and i haven't tried the 2084 yet, but i can tell you for a fact that probably any pipe is better on the fms than the 9901. Did alot of pipe testing on my fms and the 9901 was the only pipe that fell into the "it sucks" league.

Agreed Rob

9853ss and 2084ss w/41021 header are both awesome pipes for the fms , heads and tails better than the 9901ss ;)

And the 41021 is the same as the 41029 other than tighter turn for Mugen, right?

Short header, right?

The 41021 is called a short curved header but it is actually .200" longer than the 41005 "[" shaped manifold that is referred to as a medium length, go figure. Those 2 work well, but the 41001 didn't, it's .100" shorter than the 41005, same shape.
