Yes. It still has lots if mechanical pinch.
|
The most important thing is to keep the engine above 200. I would lean on both needles until you have a clean bottom end then what you need on top. You can put a descent tune on it so it is raceable without hurting the engine

I will be putting more fuel through it today after work. Just going to run it in a parking lot and tweek it a bit.
|
Remember though, when you tune on a parking lot, temps will generally go up when you run it on a track with those same settings... (and even more up if you run it for ex. on grass...)

With temp guns, I have used exerted temp guns, since they came out, with the guns most people are using now, they will be most accurate on temps up to around 250, compared to other brand temp guns start showing larger temp ranges when the temperature is getting hotter, other brands may show 290, and the exergen temps will show 270.

Ive got a Murnan mod RB M5x with a 2097 and med header in a truggy. This thing has loads of bottom end. Is there a better pipe to smooth it out?

I have a older style bxr that has a scratch on the piston and sleeve but it still runs. I really like the engine but with rb closing I'm sure parts are about to get slim. Do any of you guys know if there is a p/s/r from a novarossi that will interchange? Thanks in advance.

Did you try Amain yet?

For me it is Exergen or nothing. I do own a Raytek, but I don't trust it. I always borrow a friends exergen to verify my temps. If the battery is new my raytek is pretty good. If my friend is there I don't even get mine out. He has a older one and a newer one.
here is a good one for you, do you know who designed and help develop the Exergen temp gun? It was a man that was, called, Ron Peris, I'm sure you know who is, if you been into RC for quite awhile. The main guy from Exergen was telling me about this not to long ago, I got the temp guns like most everybody uses now when that first came out in about 2002, and since, even bought another a few years ago, there the best. |

Rob, you could put a tin can on that C6USA, that Neil is modding, and it would still be faster than anything on the track!

Today we put some more fuel through the TNS Tuned RC CONCEPT M5C/2046 combo in one of the new guys at my local track in his mugen mbx6 buggy, still on a slightly rich tune, the retun to idle of this engine is amazing and the powerband is very smooth, cant wait till its fully broken in and on a full race tune.

Summoning old timers please!
Got an old engine to revive my S5 (no, really, the square stroke RB S5). It must be some early engine from RB because I can't seem to find any picture of mention of it. Here's some clues: -Purple head (in the style of the first S7 but with less fins); -C5 case like my S5; -5 port liner with divided inlet port, square stroke like the Sx engines; -the head has the glow plug button incorporated like the S5. I'm at a loss here, a purple head RB???? I dropped a new conrod, S5 crank and head and I like how it goes with a 2058 pipe. Huh?! A CS Sport? Has anyone heard of it? Paco to the rescue! |
i rem that engine, but i think it was short stroke and not square.. I maybe wrong though..

Follow up to my woes with the S5-CS engine.
The head bolts came undone and I didn't notice it, no excuse :) but with the only venturi I have here, a 6.5mm, the engine has some poke. The tune is not there but shows lots of potential. It's a square stroke I can confirm that :) |
Hey guys. I have looked through the entire thread, and can't find where I had seen it previously. But would like to know which con rod from Novarossi fits the RB motors. Help is much appreciated. Thanks -J

On top of my head is the R7, which I have now in my S5.

Is the Rally 9 engine Italian or Taiwanese made?
Secondly, if the former, is it likely to be more aggressive than a Blast V15? (Might offer a trade..) http://www.amainhobbies.com/rc-cars-...rally9/p143829 Blast V15 info: http://www.amainhobbies.com/rc-cars-...astv15/p265357 I see bore and stroke are the same.. Looks like the Rally has the blue front bearing too.. |

Yeah, but any other insight as to the differences? The V15 has a double-balanced crank or whatever.. Otherwise they must be pretty similar?
|
i have no clue, RB went through a mix and match phase of many engines, mainly the rally and V series... so its hard to tell unless you can find the parts listing your self

Need help diagnosing what's causing my franken S5 to die when I lift the rear end of the buggy. I can make it idle normally but it dies once I release the throttle for example to enter a turn, if I raise idle then I have to raise it way too much. Running Model Technics 25% and 6.5 venturi and 2058 pipe. HSN is flush, LSN is quite a bit in (4mm or so from flush). Engine clears OK, smoke trail... I think it is getting flooded but afraid to keep leaning the top.
No leaks anywhere, fuel delivery is OK. What caught my attention was that the venturi was dripping (a couple drops) fuel once I removed it. *edit Today was the same without the venturi. I saw fuel on the exhaust pressure line. The fuel tank lid isn't sealing apparently. |
Guys, I think there back... http://www.rbproducts.com/specials.php

Hey how's it going guys, I have a rb bxr sls3 engine. I just cracked the top cooling head fan off and I took apart the engine to check the internals also. It looks like I need a new rod also. It has a lot of play in it and I don't wanna blow it up haha. Anyway does anyone know where I can get rb engine parts for this engine. Searched a little but I'm still at track now. I'm trying to see if it's worth replacing the parts or just start using another engine. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
|
As far as I know they are out of business. You are gonna have to look and ask and see if you can find what you need
|
Maybe ask in the Novarossi thread...(since RB's were made in the Nova factory...)

I believe the crank pin is a different size on a RB engine.
|
Yes it was/is, 1mm less if not mistaken.
|
Thanks for heads up, I took it completely apart. Rod isn't that bad actually. The rear engine bearing seems to have a lot of play in it. I think if I replace that I'll be good. I gotta figure out what size bearing to get for the rear engine bearing. Anyone know what size it is. I'll take it out and measure it. I would like to get another head if there cheap. Probably won't be able to find one.
