Gotcha, thank you. Would you recommend a 2013 or 2045 with these engines? I will be using the manifold off my 2013

I would love to try one of your engines, but the baby is chewing up most of my nitro funds, unless........... There's a clockworks Black Friday sale

I would atleast see a boost over my n.21r

Herrsavage 11-25-2013 06:28 AM

I've never run a 2013 - but I want one.. I bet it would be great on the Blast.. As would the 2045 probably. I don't think RB would sell all their combos with the 2045 if it sucked.. And yeah, the 2058 is supposed to be great on almost everything.. (very good on my Fire..)

~KANE~ 11-25-2013 09:21 AM

Anyone try that Kanai engine yet?

honda237 11-25-2013 10:37 AM

Ordered the v15, so come spring I will be able to test it.
The 2045 disappeared, I was going to order it but it disappeared out of my cArt and their website. Wasnt a bad deal for $20

veazie72 11-25-2013 02:09 PM

I just ordered a v-15 from A-main. I live in Loveland CO, 5000 foot elevation. Do I need to do anything with head shims for the altitude. Will be running 30% nitro.

Im wondering about these too.

Herrsavage 11-25-2013 09:24 PM

Looks like that was it for the Blasts at amain.. Whether we'll see another one?...

Jaz240 11-25-2013 09:32 PM

We have 3 V12's and 2 Kanai's left in stock. PM me if interested.

ben1970 12-11-2013 08:50 PM

Blast V15- best suited for truggy or buggy?

Maximo 12-12-2013 05:12 AM

[QUOTE=ben1970;12806387]Blast V15- best suited for truggy or buggy?[/QUOTE

Buggy if stock, both if modified

Herrsavage 12-12-2013 05:42 AM

I ordered a V15 and expect it to be good in truggy..

This V8 looked good(yellow trug) - and I don't know why the V15 would be so different:

that video doesn't show much to me.the truggy is coming off banked corners and is always at a higher speed roll..where these engines are weak is in the low end for clearing jumps, and this video only displays the midrange and top end ...the bottom is where we need to be concerned and this video shows us nothing of the bottom end.....Basically on a banked oval with a loose surface, anything is going to look decent in these conditions...a engine could have zero bottom end and still look good when shown under the right conditions (like this video )

BillyT. 12-12-2013 05:52 AM

Modded V11 in my truck was plenty for everything. Never ran the stock one in the truck though. But the way it moves my buggy would lead me to belive it is more than enough.

Herrsavage 12-12-2013 05:56 AM

I've also been around enough C6's at races to know they go well in truggy... And by all accounts most of these 5+2 MES Blasts are basically based on a C6.. In any event I'm confident that the V15 will go well in my truggy.. Lot of guys happy with the V8 and V11-V14 in truggy(no news out there on the V15 yet, but it's not that different afaict)... I've even run with a guy with a V1 in an MBX6T which looked more than respectable.. Good clutch, pipe, and tune and I'm sure it'll be fine..

Maximo 12-12-2013 06:12 AM

I guess I have high standards for truggy power !

Herrsavage 12-12-2013 06:13 AM

It cost me $147 with the discount and free shipping from amain. If at any point I ever feel like my truggy is underpowered, which I highly, highly doubt will happen, I'll put it in my buggy and try something else. But at that price I'm happy to give it a shot..

Let me know what you think of i when you run it....if you run it ;)

joey91473 12-12-2013 07:19 AM

I have a V15 coming from Neal at Clockwork. Will be going in my Truggy. I am pumped to try it out. Will be running it on a 2058 pipe.

We running all the v series engines on 2045 and it rocks ,all my V17 stock is sold with 2045 as well.

RB Blast V13

Hi guys

What do you think of the V13

I found a good deal but I never got any RB engine, how are they tuning wise and durability?

Thanks a lot :)

markmad777 12-17-2013 10:38 AM

Frans1078, you will be perfectly happy with the V-13 ,they European made and RB have been around for along time and they priced right .As mentioned ive seen good results using 2045 pipe and they make good power .

Thanks markmad777 : )

Herrsavage 12-28-2013 01:06 AM

What's the difference between the bent header on the 2087 and the normal one on the 2045? I've got a used Fire 11 on the way and too many pipes to choose from(2058, 2087, 053, 2063, SH "High Torque", and the engine is coming with a 2045 with non-RB header, whatever that means..) I also have a long NR header laying around. Just thinking out loud, from the videos I've seen of the 2045 it looks to rev pretty well, so maybe the long NR header on the 2045(long header for more torque, and the F11 revs well anyway..)?

The engine is going in my SC8, which I'm planning to bash around with... If it runs well it'll be a backup truggy race engine..

ben1970 12-28-2013 10:45 AM

Hi Guy`s,
Picked up a Blast V15 rom Amain while on sale, want to get it on the break in bench and start run in.
Running Werks 30%, will the stock shimming be okay?

copey70 12-28-2013 10:55 AM

Hobby piston and conn rod

Can anyone tell me what the part number/numbers for a rebuild kit for a hobby 9 is ? I'm having issue finding them on the world wide waste of time ? I'm looking for the piston, ring and conn rod, if they are still available. Thanks in advanced

rick oxley 12-28-2013 12:10 PM

hi ben all depends on air temp and height above sea level,
so to be on the safe side add a shim.

Herrsavage 01-04-2014 11:25 AM

So I picked up a used RB with pipe and clutch for dirt cheap on ebay recently.. Dude said "4.5 liters, and good compression.." Just got it today. One, the clutch bell had way too much play in it. That doesn't necessarily mean he ran it that way.. Two, I can turn it over with the flywheel - not totally easily, but with light-ish resistence. My own F11 has about 4-5 liters on it, and I can't turn it over by hand, without really forcing it..

So, what to do?.. Send it off to the engine guru, or just run it and see what happens? Anything I should look at or test or maybe take a pic of first?

Herrsavage 01-05-2014 01:13 AM

This doesn't look very good...:

http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u...psengkkh5m.jpg

Is that gonna' be salvageable?

Kyosho Kid 01-05-2014 11:22 AM

Looks like he honed it or something. Looks like he tried to remove the varnish and carbon. It wont work too much longer I imagine but i havent fired it up. Run it and find out. At this point its guess work.

Herrsavage 01-05-2014 11:30 AM

Doesn't it look like it just sucked dirt or something?

If it did suck dirt you will be able to tell more looking at the piston since it is softer. Where it looks polished compared to the factory hone is normal.

RB Fire 11...

Herrsavage 01-16-2014 10:18 AM

Well I just got the F11 back from the engine guy, and he said all it needed was a pinch.. I asked him about the rod, and he says it should hold another 5 liters or more. But I'm wondering about picking one up to have on hand to change when the time comes. I've never actually changed a rod.. What part # or whatever do I even need?

It came with a 2045 pipe with a non-RB header - which looks longer.. I assume that means more torque? On a pipe - the 2045 - which as far as I have heard is more a top-end pipe?.. Not too concerned as it's just gonna' be a fun engine for the SC8 (then maybe buggy..), but kinda' curious about what to expect. I also have a 2087, 2058, etc etc..

hambone 01-16-2014 10:52 AM

2058 will give more topend, 2045 bottom/mid. RB rods are made to last well past life if engine, they have larger diameter crank pin. Just check for crank pin wear. New is .198".If pin is worn down to .196" a nova rod can be used.

Herrsavage 01-16-2014 11:07 AM

Thanks. And how do you check for that wear on the rod pin?

So people don't change RB rods like they seem to do on every other brand?..

BTW - I race my truggy with my other "good" F11 with a 2058. Seems an awesome combo for racing, but I was wondering about maybe something with more brutal raw power.. I guess I'll just have to experiment with pipes..

hambone 01-16-2014 02:14 PM

Use a good caliper or micrometer and check it all the way around inside to outside since they'll wear with a taper.

Herrsavage 01-16-2014 10:21 PM

OK, digital caliper.. Been figuring I needed one of those for a few years now, but have never gotten around to it..

Anybody try the Kanai yet? On sale at amain for $260..

http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ine-Turbo-Plug

The Speed onroad engine is also on sale.. Is that something you could put a bigger (Blast, maybe..) cooling head on and run it offroad?... Was reading about the Italian Job race and some guys running NR Virtus' for all-out power.. How would this Speed engine be different from a Fire 11, besides the head?

http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...urbo-Plug-2014

I see it doesn't have the good blue front bearing like the Fire..
