nice stuff. ive been wondering which motor to get for my buggy. a ninja jx21, jamminjpx21, trinity platnum draked 21, and now the rb s5. im leaning towards the s5 after reading this, or maybe the s7 l2g.

Its not the engines fault. With a jp-1 an S7 should be a monster when tuned right. ( and a complete fuel hog). I run a jp-1 and WS7III. You just need to put in 1.1 clutch springs for the S7 to get her going down low.

I'd lose the JP-1. I hate mine. Going to try a Dynamite 053 next. I've never needed more bottom end but my bottom isn't the strongest. If I lose a little bottom with the 053 but pick up fuel mileage I'll be ok.

I have used the 086 pipe in the S7, buttloads of bottom, with great top end also, the best is the RB 2045 w/192 or 198 header, and better fuel economy.

In my experience with the JP pipes, they tend to make engines run hotter.

I posted this in the On-road Exclusive Engine section this morning thinking I was on the off-road side. Both threads are pretty much dead so maybe this will start one of them off keeping track of what 2009 is bringing for RB...

I'd like to keep track of what RB is doing this year. I was going to get an S5 for the 2009 season but since OS fixed my VG under warranty and I took a paycut at my job I'll be lucky to just break it in and buy fuel this season. I still want to keep track of RB as they will 99% be likely to be my next engine whenever that may be 2009, 2010?
What's the scoop on the new engines?

I can only find the pictures I posted, no news. Is it possible that they are a 9 port engine?! I'm guessing that may just as likely be a year 2009 designation (.9 in the name of the engine). The 3 offroad engines are the B.9, WS.9, and S.9 if you look at the business cards in front of each.

TRUE OR FALSE with RB's:

S3 S5 S7 WS7 : all have same crankcase, bearings, conrod.

S5 S7 WS7: have the same crankshaft, the WS7 has a hardcoating

WS7 turbo head: fits the S engines

RB & Novarosi plugs are the same

If parts are interchangeable then we can rebuild boken RB's with S5's and S3's for cheap.

I have a C5. It's not doing it for me. I don't have anything against RB Concepts and it's not a terrible engine... it's just not worth anywhere near the price IMO. As soon as it goes bad, I'm going to replace it with a Dynamite or Go engine around the $180-$200 mark.

I realize I just pooped in this thread and I'll get my nose rubbed in it, but that's okay. It's my experience and opinion about my C5, and it could be a fluke engine.

I have a modded c6 that makes sick power in my jammin buggy. I run a jp-4 pipe on it and it seems awesome. I tried a dynamite 086 and it didn't seem to work aswell as the jp-4. I have read in the past that the rb2045 kills some of the power that the c6 makes is this true. I have one and never tried it, I have no way to test it at this time of year because we have a lot of snow outside and I am heading to a indoor race at the end of the month and was wanting some input on the rb2045 pipe and if you have tried the jp-4 and what worked better the jp-4 or the rb2045
thanks in advance

I had a similar question about my C5 and a pipe. I ended up at the RB Concepts forum where I saw that the 086 is the pipe of choice for the C5.

You might look in the RB forum and find your question answered.

Have never run the JP-4 pipe but i have run the RB 2045 pipe with the C6 and WS7. To me it just makes the engines just that little more driveable. On the C6 i have (which i am still running in) it has mega drive out of the corners (almost to much and this is on dry high grip astro!!!). It does have a nice linear feel to it throughout the powerband which is good. I plan on running the RB 3001 pipe to see if it can make it any smoother (i like smooth :sneaky:) and possibly get more run-time (i get 10mins easy now on the WS7 and it isn't leaned out)

infanterene 02-06-2009 10:29 AM

My track has big jumps with short run ups. With the 2045 I could not always clear them but with the jp4 it's no problem. I get 12 minutes with the 2045 and 10 with the jp4.

tony montana 02-06-2009 04:28 PM

I agree. I had the 2045 on my s7 and I couldnt make the coming out of corner jumps. I have since put a jp4 on it but I havent raced with it yet. Another thing with the 2045 is I didnt get very good runtime. Only around 6 minutes. I have the standard s7 l2g and wondering if I can out the turbo button on it?

markfanelli 02-06-2009 06:20 PM

KC, I've used the 2045 with my S7 since day one and it has plenty of power all around. 8min runtime was never a problem. But, my S7 has the turbo head and yes you could switch yours over if you wanted to.
