Hey people...need some help here. A friend of mine got an RB X10 .21 engine a couple years ago and we've never been able to get it to run right. It was so tight to start with a starter box couldn't turn over the motor and we had to use a Hudy break-in stand just to get the engine run at all. Once we got the engine to run and back in the car we noticed the engine was still really hard to start and ran well over 300* even when running rich. So he gave up on the car for awhile. Now I've got my hands on it to try and make it work. I figured I would add in a head shim and seal it up really good in case it is an air leak or compression too high. I now have the engine head off and am noticing that sometimes when I turn the crank by hand the piston gets stuck really hard near the top...but most times it gets tight but not stuck. Should I worry about this? Am I going the right direction trying to seal it up and add a shim?

Thanks

If you still have the Hudy break in bench, run some more fuel thru it, it won't hurt to use another head shim either, heat the engine up to at least 200 degrees before you try to start the engine, check your needle settings, factory settings are HSN 3.5 turns out from bottom, LSN 5 turns out from bottom.

Ok so its been a long process getting this engine up and running because I've been busy with a lot of other stuff. Anyway I've finally got fuel and plan to charge up the RX pack and glow igniter tonight to try and get the car running tomorrow. Since I am not familiar with this engine...or even .21 in general...what kind of target temps should I be looking for? What is too high?

Thanks

Anyone know what size bearings are in the Blast V15? I'd like to replace mine.

Any new experiences with RB Blasts? I just ordered a Tamiya truggy kit for 99 bucks, and want to use it as a mess-arounder, and was wondering if I should just put this Blast V9 I have laying around in it, or maybe try to trade it for a basher .28 instead.. Also have a V15..

I just raced my clockwork modded blast v12 last weekend for the 1st time. Wow! That engine will blister the ass of many big buck modifieds. It's one of the stoutest 21's I've owned. And that includes the CRE Bonito! Great engine.

Yeah, the couple clips I've seen of those engines have stood out...

I've run a blast V9 in my buggy and really liked it. I don't think its got enough torque to run in truggy though. From what I've read so far I would use the V15 in the truggy.

7x19x6 front
14x25.8x6 rear (pretty sure)

I could be wrong and someone may chime in to correct me. I think only the newest Blast v19 or v20 or something has the new 14.5 crank

Thanks.. That's what I figured. I think I'll have to use the V9 as trade-bait for something stronger.. I've heard it's good in buggy.. How long did yours last? How was the top end, if the bottom was soft?

I've got just over 2 gallons on mine. Its still running strong. Just wanted to try the novarossi since I had some spare cash.;) As soon as the novarossi has loosened up I'm putting the blast back in my buggy. For me as a club racer, its a perfect motor. I'm running a GO 2072 pipe on the blast and haven't got any problems with top end. We haven't got the longest straights at our club though.

The 2072 has made quite a difference to the bottom end. Still not what I'd want for my truggy, but really nice in the buggy.

Is there a special kind of trick to remove a stubborn liner? It's from a S5.

Got my new BXR LS5 last week for my truggy. This thing is awesome! Check them out at rbusa.com. Tell them Danny Smith sent you.
