Why does the V19 cost 20 bucks more than the rest of them? Seem questionable...
I got a V15 on the way, and am still trying to sell my V9.. |
My v11 retailed for 189. Seems like they have been steadily going up with each version. I think they might be getting some higher end parts each time. Otherwise, the whole version this or that would seem kinda dumb... I know 11 to 12 got a different case, and somewhere around 14 or 15 they switched to the double slugged crank, whatever that is good for.
All I know is they make good power, and last forever. |
How much better can you get than a C6, which is supposedly what pretty much all of them have been since the V8 and V11 and up?.... Sounds more like they're just trying to squeeze out some extra profit from the Blasts' good rep.. Both my Blasts from Amain I bought when they were on sale too. The V19 will probably be on sale too soon at $199 or so...

I think the Blasts started at like $179 or so, or $199 with a pipe.. Amain currently has the Picco 5TR on sale for $255, which I'd really have to consider in that price range instead. So yeah, 20 bucks makes a difference.. AFAIC $200 is a kind of special price level. Too much over that and it's no longer the same equation..

Maybe becouse the first blast were s7 base & now they are c6 base,there is a price difference.Back in the days when I bought my C6,it was 400$ so I think at 220 is a deal.

That's not true, afaik. A few of the early ones were WS7-based, the V8 was C6 - the V9 C5/S5, and since then they've all been C6. I bought my V9 with pipe for $189(before the discount code..), same price as my V15 (no pipe). The latter is also double slugged and whatever else.. Anyway, whatever the case, that 20 bucks makes a difference afaic. I wouldn't buy it when I can get a V14 locally (no international shipping, Customs, etc..) with pipe for the same or less.. At $220 it's no longer such a clear rival to a P5XLT, Alpha, Argus, or a few others.. Just my opinion.. But I liked having various options in the sub-$200 range.. Now there's one less. Til it goes on sale at Amain anyway, which it inevitably will..
That's all assuming there's nothing meaningfully different from the last five versions.. If it were like a Fire 11 or something, with a bit better quality, OK... If not though, it's just price gouging. |
Anyone tried V18 and V20 ? Hows the performance ?

The blast v5 has a s7 crank & a ws7 p/s.The s7& Ws7 were Square stroke motor.The c5,c6 are long stroke & are about the same engine beside the difference in crank & sleeve timming.On the later blast they added slugs & or a 14.5mm crank like the bx line.I think they are going to asked for more $.

The V1, V5 and V9 were definitely the cheapest.
What diff does a 14.5mm crank make compared to a 14mm? |
I dont know,I think they are more stable,but they are the newest in cranks so you know how that goes,More money.

Can someone again please explain what "MES" means? Was just checking the RMV site and they have the Blast V17, which is described as "5+2", but no mention of MES. Whereas most of the Blasts going back to the V8(excluding the V9) said "5+2 with MES" in the description..
EDIT - Just checked.. The V18 and V19 are described as "5 ports" only, no MES, no 5+2.. But with a 14.5mm crank.. The V20 is a 7-port with MES and 14.5mm crank... (Could this be close to a Fire?...) So that's the first question. And while we're at it, what's the point of the "double filled cranks" or whatever on some of the recent versions?.. |

Those that have it have a smaller main exhuast port but two extra smaller ports at the top left and top right of sleeve if you look from the exhaust port in the case. Those that don't have only a single larger main exhuast port. |

It might of been better to ask "What does MES do" rather than what it is ;)
I'm no 2 stroke expert but; the height and width of the exhuast effects how the engine makes its power. Having a single "tall" port i would imagine would make more overall power but provide less feel to the engine. e.g. the F11, loads of power but not much feel. By having a smaller main port and 2 auxillary ports i would imagine it allows them to tune the overall power of the engine while still providing some measure of feel. |
