Never had one, it was similar to the C6 though. I don't know what a mild engine is and would never buy a mild engine anyway. lol

Between the adjustability of the RB carburetors and all the standard and oval carb inserts any of the RB engines can be tuned from extremely smooth to very punchy. I run the BXR with the 6.0 oval carb restrictor. It has plenty of bottom end and still has a smooth and linear power delivery through the rpm range.

The RB engines also last a very, very long time. I don't race as much as I used to but I am still on my first engine that I broke in for the DNC in February. I would guess it has around 5 gallons on it. Still has a lot of compression but I will change the bearings before the next big race. I imagine it has another 2 gallons of life left in it. I'm very pleased with this engine.

the only diffrence between the c5 and c6 is the c5 has higher exhaust timing
making it very picky on the clutch as the power comes in higher up in the revs
and comes in hard. were as the c6 will pull from very low revs is better on
fuel and feels nicer to drive the c5 proberly has a little more over all power
but getting it to the ground is harder.

New? Another engine made of old parts I guess...

RCmayor 08-01-2013 10:44 PM

Not necessarily, RB was never big in the 3 ports. They had a sport s3 engine, but their offroad race engines were the S7 based engines and the C6. So I doubt they have a bunch of 3 port spare parts laying around. This could be an S3, with some high end parts though. Maybe newer designed case... All speculation though. Should be a good engine. But for the money it is hard to beat the blast at just over half the cost...

pretty sure its new. couldnt imagine RB making a Kanai motor with spare parts. Im sure he had a hand in the design.

A few years ago they did the X10 which was a 3 port: http://www.rbproducts.com/explose/RB.../01010-X10.pdf
Probably based around this but with a 14.5m crank?

Herrsavage 08-02-2013 06:10 AM

That's right.. The X10 was pretty popular over here I think..

Maximo 08-02-2013 06:31 AM

the Shark was also a 3 port with MES exhaust !

guttley 08-02-2013 06:48 AM

I thought so too! however when i checked the spec sheet its not?

the Shark was most definitely a 3 port......at least the original versions of it were.....

kgombe 08-02-2013 06:58 AM

The shark 10 which was made for Reno was a 5 port engine... I think rb had another engine called shark... Not sure
