I ran my motor the other day and the needles were at 4.5 lsn and 2.5 hsn to get it to run. THis is with the 97t dyn round header and nova 9853 pipe.

A couple of random notes from my engine:
- I've used OS P3/P4s and O'Donnell 97Ts successfully. I had the widest tuning window with the P3, the best fuel economy from the P4 and the most durability with the 97T - I've come to fully expect at least 7.5 minutes a tank in races. Recently I went 8 minutes 45 seconds on a tank because I got called in early on my last pit stop, but still finished the race without backing off on the last tank at all - My engine doesn't start to make power until it's at 250 degrees. It's really happy once the temps get up to around 270 degrees. Don't let the temp gun scare you - if you see a little smoke down the straightaway, you're fine. These engines just run hot. - One way I've started to tune the LSN recently is to get the HSN where I want it, make sure then engine's fully warmed up, then run a 20-30 foot section of the track at 1/8-1/4 throttle (like a slow rumble strip section), then stab the throttle and see how much smoke I get. If it really belches smoke, I lean the LSN 3 hours and try it again. If I get very little smoke, then I fatten the LSN up 2 hours. I don't have a way to describe exactly how much smoke I'm looking for, but just making sure I get a little more than I'd see while ripping down the straight, but not fogging for mosquitos either. - AE 2035 pipe: The answer for this engine. :nod: - After one of my recent qualifiers, I drove up pit lane lazily, and just parked the car since no one was there at the time to put it on the wall. I walked casually down the driver's stand, and stopped to talk to someone on the way to pit lane for about 90 seconds. I then walked casually over to pit lane, and noticed someone had put my car on the wall. When I got to the car, it was still idling. I hadn't touched the throttle in about 2 minutes. I'm pretty sure that's about as good as an idle gets. I wasn't lean bogging during the qualifier, either. |

So you're one of those guys who doesn't come off the stand and go straight out to marshall, so when I crash in warm up I don't have anyone to flip me over because you haven't gotten out there yet, LOL!! Glad to here everythings going well for you. My notes are about the same. Good luck this season.

Reedy 2039 pipe
I got to test the new Reedy 2039 hard coat pipe this weekend on my Reedy121vr. It tuned in nice and screamed from mid to top end. :D

Did you test out a max runtime at all? I wonder why they will do for tank times... Im in the market for a new pipe... I got a new RC8B, Reedy 121VR, but i have a midrange dynamite 053 pipe.. I think top end pipes gets better fuel.

Our practice was rained out. Honestly I didn't get to do a proper fuel run. I can tell you I pitted at the 8 1/2 minute mark in the main. I felt it was safe from what I had saw after my 5 minute heat races. Hope this helps.

i ran my reedy at a race last week, i have jp3 and os p3 plug on my truggy losi 8 t and 14 tooth clutch bell i got 8 minutes and that was pushin it

What I have gathered
Ok so I'm picking up a Reedy 121 VR used with a Gallon through it.
I'm trying to compile a list of necessary info for near optimum performance. Any help would be appreciated in verifying :) - Some tend to gear up one tooth (this would be a 17 clutch bell on my RC8B) - Reedy 2035 low to mid pipe, or 2039 high speed pipe depending on track size. (Among some others) - P4, RT4, or OD97T Plugs - After break in use the extra shim provided and remove the installed shims - Engine may run a bit hotter than expected (Of course we never tune via temp :D ) I have a Dynamite 053 Mid-Range Inline Exhaust anyone tried this pipe before, curious if it would be decent enough to use. The JP line of pipes have always been notoriously bad on fuel mileage, durable as heck and the 3 is popular for it's driving feel but just bad on fuel. I used to run them on Vspecs a while back and when I switched to other pipes the mileage got way better. Just food for thought.

will the losi tuning flathead fit the needles ok on this motor?

Yes, but it will not fit across both slots. I would get a 2mm ball tip wrench, and have that be your dedicated tuning wrench.

Skidoos Brandon is in the South East US. I think North Carolina. He's never heard of Hardcore probably. The AE/Reedy pipes work best with the engine.
