2.5 out on top and bottom gets me really close. The bottom end is really easy to box tune. Just fatten it up and listen for the high idle to drop. Keep leaning it until she hardly drops. Also keep your idle gap half of a 1.5mm wrench.

Cool, Thanks guys. I will say though I love the engine so far even in it's current tune. I was so much more consistent with my lap times then I was with my v-spec. I don't like driving my car blipping the throttle a lot like a lot of guys do. I prefer to roll on and off and find a constant speed through turns and with the v-spec it really felt like there was no in between, it was either on or off. and the Reedy definitely has the in between and it's making running consistent laps easier for sure. I went from 27-28 sec laps to 24-25 sec laps. Granted I'm still way off the top guys on the track but I'll get there. Thanks again.

I'm so thinking about this reedy motor. I saw maifield at the futuba race and he walked up to the driver stand, started it up, blipped it 3 times, nodded his head and it was dialed. I'm coming from a nova plus 4. How do they compare. Also will a ofna 086 or a jp3 pipe work. I also have a nova 9853/41005 header and alot of odo 99 and 97t. Can I use thems

OD97T

I actually can answer something here which I think most would back up. When I got the engine I had put a P3 in and broke the motor in and I was seeing high temps while doing a race tune. and I switch my plug to a 97T and ran my main and after I pulled it off I was twenty degrees cooler then the P3. So to answer your question and to back up Chris the 97T is the way to go and its cheaper to use and in previous experience has lasted longer then any other plugs I've tried.

whats up with that new reedy pipe? still no dual exaust spring holes like the reedy motor runs what up with that?

Hey guys!!
Well i cant wait to get my hands on this engine I literally read every page on this thread and its a tossup from good and bad. But the Key seller to me is the price. I can get of these and a pipe for a good price. But my question is, I’m fairly new to nitro ( compared to you guys) and I was wondering how easy tuning was for everyone? Would this be an engine that you would recommend to somewhat newbie that had taken a year off? |

So how do you guys like the Reedy motor? How does it compare to the Werks B5 and Jammin JPX.21 plus?

Man I can’t wait to go back to Cali so i can have some fun only 20 more days of this deployment and I’m DONE! But I’m glad to hear that it’s easy to tune making me lean over to the Get it side rather than something else. Thanks Porkchop!

HA HA porkchop. Here, i have tuned every Reedy run by unsponsored drivers. Everytime i do they complain that they have to relearn to drive the motor because they now have more power then they had before.
|
i did not have enough power with mine ran it on sunday with 97t plug hn2047 pipe and gen 2 8mm restrictor and i was the slowest car up the straight by a long way getting blown away by go 5 ports had to take it out for my last qualifier and put my speed back in to get a decent time in
what do u guys recomend the straight was long but it seemed to lack a lot of top i have a os 2060 pipe to try and i will have to give the 9mm restrictor a try to |
