Bigedmond, I'll be headed your way for Silver State and I am looking for some help. I'll be running a Reedy in my RC8T that I have very little time on. It was broken in and I got a practice day out of it with the help of a couple AE drivers but ended up having the crank problem. I have not run it since I got it back from AE. I was thinking about trying to get it tuned a day or two before the SS race at the on road track if they will let us on there.
Would you be able to help?
Thank you Brian

dan blight, What gearing did you run on the car? Clutch bell and spur.

Not a problem. Since you just got it back, check it over, and reseal it. AE didnt seal my motor when i got it back, and it was missing the button shim.

what do u guys recomend the straight was long but it seemed to lack a lot of top
i have a os 2060 pipe to try and i will have to give the 9mm restrictor a try to

Try the 7mm restrictor, I have noticed the motor runs better, top and bottom over the 8mm. Also if your running the RC8B try the stock spur and 17T bell. You wont need a 16t with the bottom end power the motor has.

Dan,

I am going to assume you are getting correct temps around 250-270, and that the bottom is very crisp correct.

If so, you problem is you are lean on the bottom and rich on top. If not, skip the rest of this message.

To correct the issues above, richen the bottom 5 hours, and lean the top 2. Take a couple laps, and tune the top from there. You make want to lean the top another hour or 2 depending on how it is running.

i am running stock gearing with a 17t bell i dont usually tune by temp more on engine response performance and smoke
how does the 7mm produce better top than the 8 or 9 ?
i am running around 3 turns out lsn and 2.3 out hsn
any ideas ??

I noticed the 8mm or 9mm can allow to much air in. I would adjust your top and bottom to 2.5 out and start from there. 2.5 on top is normally right there. Its the bottom that I play with most of the time, now my motors run 250-265.

The Reedy runs best with the 7mm restrictor, hands down. Too many people have had the same results.... 7mm is the peak power.

I would definitely recommend the 2060 over the hn2047 .

Does any one off hand know the sizes of the bearings for the front and back of the engine? I want to Upgrade them and get an extra set to have on hand. Thanks for your time

Hey Guys, I'm curious what is the reason they put the extra shim in the box for??? Am I suppose to put this shim in after break in or remove the original shim? What is it's intent?

slasher man 02-02-2010 07:53 PM
