Hmmm....looks like someone's trying to get a rise out of the folks in this thread. :sneaky:

I say we just don't take the bait.

I was gunna say... Last I checked this was a praise/concern and Q&A thread for the ODONNELL engine

Maybe I was wrong??

Crazy power? Who wants that.....maybe a backyard basher:lol Many many motors have crazy power. Racers are looking for smooth usable power and the odonnell ss cant be beat for that! ;):D:sneaky:

Front bearing failed right at 1 gallon... Not very happy with this cause it's a PITA to change. But I still say it's a great engine.

Ontact Steve O or Hobbico. They should be able to take care of you on that

I can't believe how many people are all of a sudden having bearing issues. Didint seem to ve a problem till someone with this engine chimes in an said they were cheap bearings

Does seem a little odd..I've run 4 myself over the past year and I know of 8 others that friends of mine ran. NOT 1 of them had bearing issues at the 1 gallon mark. Not saying it can't happen, but I've yet to see it.

O'Donnell SS .21 for sale

If anyone one on this thread is looking to give this mill a try I have one for sale on this site in the for sale thread. For anyone that already has an SS and know how good they are it would be a good opportunity to pick up a second one that has already been broke-in.

Check it out here. Thanks

That; or obviously a bad batch of bearings... Unless my bearing has been reading this thread and decided to jump on the bandwagon?? lol

I ordered an ACER ceramic. Will let everybody know how it runs.

On another note, my R2 pipe finally in. It made the engine more linear throughout compared to the OS 2050 with equal power. Still a little disappointed with the mileage though. I need to keep tuning, but has anybody tried another shim or 6mm restricter?

Oh, i wasnt trying to be mean.

I just never remembered seeing anything until someone posted.THEN everyone had problems. I actually think I have one that is having issues as well.

I think that first post just jinxed us, and the magic bearing fairy decided to make everyone have issues!

Could be a bad batch of bearings...stranger things have happened, that's for sure. Reasonably inexpensive repair, even though they should indeed be lasting well beyond one or two gallons.

I've got just shy of two gallons on mine, and all I get is a small amount of moisture around the front of the motor / rear of the flywheel. Just enough to attract dust. Although, I think when Steve sent me my motor, he had put ceramics in it, so mine may not be a good comparison.

At any rate, it's a darn good motor. Hopefully, the bearing issue is only an annoying quality control problem at the supplier, and it has been, or soon will be resolved.

I picked up the SS.21 back in Feb as a back up engine and continued to run my OS Speed. Earlier this month at AMS race I had an issue with OS so I put the SS.21 in right before the Main. It didn't seem to have low end but pulled nice uptop. I put an R2 pipe on it and ran it Saturday at local race. It was better in practice but by the qualifiers the thing was on fire. It seems it's finally loosening up and has a nice power all the way thru powerband. Need to tune little more as I am barely making 7min but improving.

Great engine for the money

Alain

I'm not fully convinced it has the power band as my OS Speed but it sure has improved.
