THIS IS FROM STEVE ODONNELL

Hello Angelo,

Hope all is well…. I can’t say I agree with you on the addition of another head shim the total volume
In the head with the two factory installed shims is sufficient for 30% if you are having problems with
hurting glow plugs generally that is simply too lean and not necessarily over compressed other possibilities
are drag (something bound up) Fuel ect.
The other possibility is density air what is the corrected density air where your at ?
here in the US stock shimming is fine with 30% just thought I should pass this on

Marz 08-20-2009 06:16 PM

I am doing that .. been running the standard shimming, with 30% nitro and have used 1 plug since day one!

Basically from day one I have set a decent tune and haven't really had to touch the needles since.
The motor sits there and idles non stop, and will happily chug along for race after race.
I actually think I may have richened the top a bit last race meet as it was getting to about 8 PM and temps had dropped out doors.

All in all - a great motor!

All I need now is my D8 size LIFE batteries!! LOL

After some study and speaking to steve and some others together we have come to the conclusion that the motors used in Australia who are blowing plugs and having problems with the engines is a result of one thing .

1.To lean bottom and top. Nothing more

Temp should be at 200-220 F nothing more .Please guys read the manual.Dont forget its not a 7 port or an 8 port so dont go looking for a that extra performance in a 4 port.So dont go crazy on the needles .Its a $229 US engine not an $500 US RB or Novarossi.

This is the only reason to have extremely blown plugs like i have seen and pitting on the button and piston and that is as i said misuse nothing more .

I'm still to blow a plug in mine.

Excellent Marz atleast there is someone who knows what they are doing and treats the engine with respect .

teach some of the rest of them how to respect a top engine.Keep up the great work marz .

D8 packs are in on monday ,they have arrived just in customs at the moment.

I did my run in as per the manual.
I ran it in on Ryper's 30% Purple Rush, and she aint missed a beat. I think I have adjusted the needles once after the initial break in and tune, and that's all. I still have the original OD plug too! LOL

ran mine as per manual
11 tanks now
beats like a Swiss watch till now

punkracer24 08-21-2009 11:04 AM

mine runs great too. got a little over a gallon on it now and its still on the same plug i broke it in with. I am, however, changing pipes for this weekend. I have been running a 2035 with a JP-1 header and its run great but I am going to try a JP-1 since its a little smaller track and i could use more bottom end.

Ive got a pipe coming soon called the Cobra R/C CR1 its not a efra pipe number but for club racing its the gun .You wont be able to use it at sanctioned events but there are many more club events than sanctioned .

it will be available soon .It's a middle to top end pipe but really an alrounder.

excellent pricing high quality .comes complete with long header.springs the works.

loks like a really long header..

usually longer means lower end.
