At 1.5 gallons my Ex-tech doesn't have a tight pinch like it did when it was new. It has good compression, and of course it runs great, idles great and has tons of power. Just wondering if this was normal?

Chad Phillips 11-27-2008 06:31 AM

yes.. that means its fully broken in..

cjtamu 12-04-2008 06:15 AM

Chad, I assume the carb has gotten to you by now. LMK if you see anything FUBAR'd, but I think I just put a burr on it when the set screw started moving the radio tray, LOL.

Chad Phillips 12-04-2008 08:06 AM

shipping back to you today! :)

cjtamu 12-04-2008 09:21 AM

Awesome, thank you sir. That's what I call customer service fellas. Because the carb issue was in no way related to a product defect, but was 100% the result of my being a dumbazz and not paying attention, LOL.

PinoyCali 12-04-2008 10:11 AM

Hello Guys,

I ordered the extech .21 eb mod pre-run.
Do this engine still need to break-in?

Thanks,

Thanks,

The engine will come "mostly" broken in. You will still have to run some fuel through it at a slightly rich setting for a few tanks. It won't truely loosen up until you have around a gallon through it.

PinoyCali 12-04-2008 11:45 AM

Thanks C Branch.

Is jp pipe good for this engine?

Any recomendation for plug and cheap pipe?

Thanks

No problem!

I don't think the JP pipes are the best match for that engine.
Try a Dynamite 053 or 086. They both work very very well with these engines and are priced right as well ;)
For plugs, try to stick with the Trinity plugs, either the 5 or the 6 depending on your conditions.
Enjoy! They are one of the best engines I have ever run.

PinoyCali 12-04-2008 12:17 PM

Cool... Thanks

cjtamu 12-04-2008 02:06 PM

I never did try out the 086 b/c the Sirio 2013 you sold me was so good on the layout we ran couple weeks ago. Plus, I could hear my car on the track, LOL. Back straight had a big tabletop and the front he broke up with a chicane that led you into a bermed bowl turn that had a crossover jump on exit (you jumped the front straight you just came off of) and then a little mini table top. It was suweet, but I never topped out even with that pipe. Y'all need to come down here and race one weekend. Then we'll go here for dinner and adult beverages (although we went to Bone Daddy's this time, but very similar):

Click on locations, then Round Rock (that's the one near the track), then the gallery.

C Branch 12-04-2008 02:14 PM

Hahahaha!! The 2013 is a monster on that engine and it sounds like no other!

I mentioned the other 2 pipes because he was looking for something a little more affordable ;)

That place looks great! I would love to head out that way sometime!

PinoyCali 12-04-2008 02:25 PM

I used the Dynamite but the Nova Rossi should work well too.

Mel 12-04-2008 03:58 PM

Using the JP-3 pipe and it works out sweet..
smooth all around and great top end

killabud 12-04-2008 04:49 PM

Hey Chad, I got the motor today, thanks again for all your help. Ill be sure to let you know how she goes. Now if only I had somewhere to race! might have to head up to bumps and jumps just to try it out. :sneaky:

PinoyCali 12-04-2008 05:13 PM

Finally finished reading 30 pages...:D

NitroOB4You 12-04-2008 05:25 PM

E.T came home!

Well, since we're on a roll... My E.T was on my doorstep today. Also, thx BIG for the extra head screws, will definitely come in handy. :D
What is the total thickness of the head shims, btw? I have the RP running on 30%. Thx :)

Chad Phillips 12-04-2008 05:55 PM

killa - you still have good compression but some scratches on the piston from dirt intake.. I ran it on the bench and was fine... just keep up on the airfilter

nitro - no problemo!

Teufel Racing 12-04-2008 06:00 PM

Got a few back there to be looked as well,
Chad has always took care of any question I have had. Couldn't be happier with Trinity/Chad or the motors.

KyJoe340 12-04-2008 10:54 PM

My ExTech is leaking alot around the carb, I mean alot...almost streaming out around the carb or carb boot. I sealed the carb with Lucky 7 and it still leaks, I removed the carb boot and very carefully cleaned eveything and made sure it was seated perfect but haven't tried it yet to see if that helps. It's also getting very notchy in the cold weather, everything is fine then from one heat to the next the top hits hard and it's difficult to drive. I have to richen the top alot to calm it down. I don't dislike the motor I just wish it didn't leak so bad and wasn't so notchy. I haven't had these problems with my Novarossi or even my low budget VG.

jpalessi 12-04-2008 11:02 PM

;)

KyJoe340 12-05-2008 12:04 AM

Thanks, I'll check that. It's not wet on the boot itself but at the base of the boot and below the carb, and only on the boot side of the carb. The other side is dry.

jpalessi 12-05-2008 12:14 AM

;)

Chad Phillips 12-05-2008 07:09 AM

KyJoe340 12-05-2008 03:25 PM

Chad Phillips 12-08-2008 11:54 AM

pinoy - check the clinch bolt.. it may be tight :)

PinoyCali 12-08-2008 12:07 PM

no its not i took the right side off.. Im almost there half way:nod:

cjm1126 12-08-2008 12:09 PM

do you have both sides loose? i know on other engines if i leave one side tight it will still be stuck, i usually have to press in when i am threading the bolt out to get the other side to come out

PinoyCali 12-08-2008 12:23 PM

I pushed it out a little bit.

Finally its out ...:).. I cant wait to go home lols

franklucas 12-08-2008 12:33 PM

whats the best pipe for the .21 eb modded? hows the new 2056 compared to the 2013, 086 etc. power and runtime thanks

Chad Phillips 12-08-2008 12:46 PM

2013 - animal.. massive bottom mid
086 - mid to top

2056 - smooth powerband.. best overall.. also best fuel mileage. we have a huge order coming this week.. the 2056's will be in this order as well as the updated engines..

franklucas 12-08-2008 12:50 PM

updated engines? i am getting ready to place a order i have a .21 in my buggy and I am getting ready to order a .24 for my truggy should I wait? whats updated about them thanks

Chad Phillips 12-08-2008 12:55 PM

updated engines.. meaning modded verisons completed from the factory.. ;)

Chad Phillips 12-08-2008 12:57 PM

frank - even if you ordered it today.. you would get one of the new ones... we are out of stock on all .21's and fully modded .24's.. i have a few race prepped .24's left..

franklucas 12-08-2008 01:07 PM

its $90.00 more than the Eb Modded one, is there a big difference because I can still get a Eb Modded one off Amain for $389.00 versus $479.00 for the updated engine, is there that much of a difference where I should pay more for the new one? thanks not complaining just trying to justify what I spend on a new engine if its that much better I'll get it. thanks
