The glowplug chart you have is the US one. The OS Japan site shows P3, P4, P6, P7 and P8 in the turbo version.

If you bought it in the US or AUS it will come with the 2053 pipe with short manifold, i got mine from EU and it came with the 3009 pipe and long manifold.

Semple 07-31-2008 07:46 PM

At $309 it's probably coming from Hong Kong. One of those RC-Mart type places, I would assume.

So a p3 ultra hot is hotter then a p4 super hot?

Semple 07-31-2008 07:49 PM

P3 is their hottest.

I think you're right, and it probably does not have a pipe (I could be wrong ont that).

I got mine from tilted for 375 + 8 shipipng with a 2053 in the promo kit. So, after you throw in shipping at 309 and then buy a pipe, why not give your hard earned cash to an American company that at least the profits stay here in the USA? Not saying it has to be USA built just USA bought;)

Semple 07-31-2008 07:52 PM

Or Canada! ;)

That Tilted deal was really tempting for me, as well.

yep! lets just say North America then:D

Nitro$junkie 07-31-2008 08:34 PM

Yea its from Hong Kong but it is the promo kit with pipe here is the link http://shopping.rcmodel.hk/product_i...ducts_id=13053

PS why would i give a US company the bussiness when i can get it else ware way cheaper and by the way im from Australian not America

.

So mate, if an Australian company had it for 383 total and a Hong Kong shop had it for 309 + 40 shipping (I don't even know what the shipping price is just assuming the average from hong kong for this size package as I do not want to register, plus it appears to be out of stock anyway) = 349 and it take 3 freaking weeks to get to you; you'd rather send your hard earned money overseas where it will never be put back into your economy?

Nitro$junkie 07-31-2008 09:57 PM

Yea man i understand what your saying and i would buy local if they are round the same price or $20/$30 more but i got mine landed for $360AUD ($339USD)with 5 day delivery (EMS)and the cheapest you can get one here is $540AUD so you can understand why im buying over seas i dont care were i buy from as long as i can save as much cash as i can. I just saved myself $180 AUDS thats alot of cash i can put towards other items like Fuel,Tyres,Glowplugs

Nitro$junkie 07-31-2008 09:59 PM

Oh and the reason they have none instock now is i must have brought the last one they had or they only had one instock so lucky me :sneaky:

Yeah I would do the same thing if the price disparity was that great.

Your going to like the engine. Just make sure you have a heat gun for that sucker to break it in. The pinch is crazy. Mine is finally loosening up enough after 3/4 of a gallon to fire it up without the NEED for a heat gun. I still heat it up if I can.

The new 3009 (off road) and 3008(on road) pipes are a new pipes from GRP according with Efra 2008 rules. I bought two engines at RC mushroom (taiwan) and one came with 2053 and the other with 3009. The same happened with my two GRP onroad engines, one came with 2053 and the other with the pipe 3008.

im not fussed if i get the 3009 i already have the 2053 so 3009 can be a tuning option if i wanna tame the beast down

PS RC Mushroom is in Hong Kong not Taiwan ;)

Where did you find that? Did you screw the screws on your brand new motor to find them?

Nitro$junkie 08-05-2008 05:44 PM

yer man whats wrong with that ? I always do it on my new motors to find the stock settings, And yes i had the cerb slide all the way open when i did the LSN (Own a Ninja already) wich had the same carb settings aswell

Nothing wrong at all with it, wish I had done that before I went twisting on them.... I searched GRP with no luck is the only reason I asked.

Thanks for posting those! Much appreciated.

Nitro$junkie 08-06-2008 01:17 AM

Yea man no probs ;) im like you hate trying to find out things later on if i ever have a tuning prob i always like to go back to stock and start again always works for me

How you finding ya GRP how dose she like to run i know me Ninja loves it at about 5 1/2 on the LSN and about 3 1/2 in the high and screams, always temps after a 10min Q at about 120c (248F) thats running 25%Nitro and 12% oil (10%syn & 2% Cast)running a Ninja C6 plug idels all day long and plug last for a few club meets to so hope me new GRP is just as easy to tune and run im hearing about all this flame out issues just want me new engine to run as good as me last she's been a dream coming from Novarossi's which gave me nothing but headaces

desertbird 08-06-2008 06:26 AM

My GRP is set exactly what your Ninja liked 5 1/2 LSN 3 1/2 HSN +/- and hour or two. I find I only need small adjustments no more than 3 hrs. I have never had a flame out. My problem is I start temping low as the night goes on, 190ish, running a OS P3 plug in hot ass Arizona. I then start leaning it out to get the temp up and put her into a lean bog. I'm running that ultra hot plug to open up the tuning window, not sure my logic is the best on that, but it's been working; except for how quick I can lean bog when leaning it out.

HarleyMf2 08-06-2008 11:36 AM

190 is not bad the last race i was at the pros motors were coming off of a 15 min run at 160

desertbird 08-06-2008 12:16 PM

Yeah, next race I'm not going to twist the screws if smoke is good and performance rocks, but temps seem low. My lowest temp was 186, and am concerned that the cooler temp is not good for conrod life. But I also hear this is a cool running motor, so I should probably not try to fix what ain't broke, but I am learning.

Shane Racer 08-07-2008 03:30 AM

Those poor motors are going to freeze to death. Lean it out.

FrankBlack 08-07-2008 03:28 PM

One thing i noticed with the grp is when you temp it you have to temp it immediately after the run, the engine will cool significantly cause of the huge head, the temp will drop greatly even in a short time like the walk from the drivers stand to the pits.

cjm1126 08-07-2008 07:45 PM

my grp likes to run around 230, thats when it gets around 11-12 min run times, i have been running the associated pipe with 6.5 restrictor and p3 plug, really seemed to wake the engine up

Looks like GRP engine users are happy using the OS P3 plugs.

Dave.H 08-10-2008 07:59 PM

1/2 gallon and the bearings are making noise.....?:flaming: What are the bearing sizes? I want to get some TKOs for it.:flaming:

FrankBlack 08-10-2008 08:21 PM

Front: 7 x 19 x 6mm

Rear: 14 x 25.4 x 6mm

Are these the same engine as we can get in the US? The picture on the 21 looks correct, but if you look at the GRP 28 on that site, it has a smaller cooling head and the wrong header pictured. So either there are different versions internationally, or they have knock off 28's.

I would second that about the OS P3 plugs. After reading an earlier page on this thread, I was reluctant to try anything other than the GRP plug, but I gave the OS P3 a try and it works great. I don't have any sealing problems, and it seems to run better all around, from idle all the way up to WOT. I have also run about half a gallon through it and haven't had to change the plug. Tuning was never really a problem, but hasn't become one either with the use of this plug.

Breakin2 08-14-2008 04:04 PM

Has anyone tried the non-tuned GRP? How are they?

Desertbird - Run the motor anywhere between 175-195. As someone already pointed out they have a massive cooling head. Anything too much hotter than that and its too much IMO...

I also run the GRP at the Pit and I always try and run it around 180.

You may want to try the GRP 5 again or try a ODonnell 97T.
