So my grp .28 i bought with the promo kit has the fast lock system pipe and it just doesnt seem to seal right it feals kinda loose and has felt that way from day one what are you guys doing to seal them up better. i have hardened oil residue al around it from it seaping oil while ive ran my truck help me out.

Those seals leak after they get hard. I saw it 1st hand when the ambient temp was in the 30s I could see the exhaust escaping around the FLS connection. Replace them when they get hard. The Mugen FLS orings work heres a link>>

hey guys what is the normal temp of a GRP tuned with 30% fuel? Mine is pulling like hell and only running like 189F is this normal?

Thanks

Sounds about right. Don't tune this engine by temperature, tune it by sound and smoke. Otherwise, you'll cork it like everyone else did that tried to tune them by temp.

There are many variables with these engines but if it is running well and you have good smoke and the run time is in the 9-10 min region then I would say it is perfect. I have had GRP's run as hot as 220-230 in a heavy truggy and then on some days right around 200. I know racers that run their GRP's at 190 all day long and they get 10-12 gallons out of them. Look at the performance and smoke that comes out of the pipe if that is good then dont worry about it.

sweet thanks guys, I am loving this motor. My axe was still falling on its face rich at 190f and would start to wake up at around 220f.

reagrdless what engine it is i would have thought tuning to temps was a bad thing ..i have never owned a temp gun

if it performs well and no lean bogs ect its all good :)

What pipe runs the best on the tuned .21 engine?

9 to 10 minutes on 1 tank should I be using the 6 or 7mm insert to get that or can I get that run time on the 8mm??

Thanks

I found the GRP tuned pipe to be the only way to go for me.

mattwoodcraft 06-12-2009 04:16 PM

i to like the grp pipe with this engine so +1 here
i have tried a few different pipes but seem to go back to the grp pipe

hey guys one more question. is it good to keep heating the motor with a heat gun even after breakin? Some people say you should never start a cold motor and others say it really don't much matter after breakin?

mattwoodcraft 06-13-2009 06:46 AM

if the motor still has a bit of nip to it up top it wouldnt hurt these motors take a long time to get heat into them at the best of times
