Thank Shane, WOW!! what a weekend
conditions were perfect all weekend, especially for this time of year. the track conditions were the best and fastest ever, laptimes and heat time records were smashed. I set the fastest time in qualifying in the last round with the truggy so I was feeling good for sundays final but 3 other drivers were setting equally fast times, still was working on the buggy that was a bit pushy but happy to be 2nd after the heats in both classes at the end of saturday. sunday was 2 races that I had to work real hard to get the lead and once there was able to hold it, so good to have no issues with either car for a change. the GXII HO with the new 3 needle slide fitted ran flawlessly all weekend, both fitted with ascendancy clutches all alloy shoes. I ran a slightly different carb setup on both motors, on the buggy the msn was at factory setting lsn was just over 1/2 a turn out from flush and the hsn was 1 1/2 turns in from flush, our track is fast and flowing but no very long straights. truggy I tried the a leaner msn, 1/2 a turn in from factory settings, lsn just over 1 turn out from flush and hsn 1 1/4 in from flush...OD97T and 30% NitroX fuel, naturally the 2072 GO pipe. run times were around 10 minutes for truggy and 8.30 in buggy, air temps were mild, under 20C both days so both motor never got too hot, 105-115C. I hear ya Runne about the distribution. Its going to hamper the efforts of all the individual distributors by under cutting them. This guy was selling stuff below MY COST PRICE!
Go? You listening? Better pull ya socks up or youll make another mess of it M |
So the guy is selling 5RHO's for $218.50 and AMain sells them for $200 Where's the problem?

I doubt they are the latest version with the new carbs.
MM Mark, why do you only mod the older version GX engines? I surprised there isn't a GXII MM? Is there something about the engine your not happy with or is it to do with other issues. |
I dont only mod older gx engines, in fact i havent modified a Go based engine since 2008. pretty much since the MG came out. Most people tend to think i only modify go engines but thats very far from the truth.
I have, before hearing about go engine modified well over 300 engines of all brands. And now thats all i do is mainly other brands, i repair go engines and service them just like any other brand. So ive neve been exclusive to go interms of being a modder. As for the new GX II HOE , it has some good points and some average ones. Things i wouldnt have done but its not my engine, i only really helped with the head design and some minor internal changes as suggestions. The rest of its timing and sleeve design was inspired by nova based engines as a guess. The 3 needle carb imo as an addition was decided by someone that dosent have much idea of their customer base. I cant see the point in adding an extra needle that not many if anybody has a clue how it works. I mean i do, thats because its my job to know and in knowing this there is no point to it. It has nothing tomdo with mid range tansition. Which is the common thing people think its designed to do. The problem with the msn is it adjusts the low speed setting, idle and hsn setting all at the same time. Now can anybody tell me why you would want to do that? changing one perametwr at a time on a carb is all anybody needs and is still confusing, let alone three things at the same time. We all know when you change the set up of your suspension for eg, you do one thing, one ajustment, then go out and see what diference it made. If you ajust three things then go out and drive you wont be able to tell which onemit was that made a difference, this will confuse your over all knowledge ofmyour set up. As far as my relationship with Go, i love everybody at go and naga with all my heart, they are my brothers, even whey they are stubborn :-) we still work together and they supply me with parts for my custom engines but i do not develop for them anymore. So we still have a working relationship and its a good one:-) I only really do minor mods to my MG or Zilla engines for specific purposes, they are really all you need as stock but as it goes people love things being modified and so i squeeze or change it to their needs. Lately they have been seeling very well and im very happy with the engines. I have changed internals to locally made parts i thought could be improved on. Sorry getting carried away. Hope this helps :-) M |
Thanks for clarifying that Mark, I still have a MG66 running but with a GXII p/s in it, from the way it performs it makes me think that the crankshaft weight and timing in the GXII is one of the main differences from the GX1 motors and your MM versions.

The GO B-607B front bearing is 7 x 19 x 6, like most other front bearings out there. |
Is the consensus the 2072 has made the 2047 not really much thought anymore? Has anyone tried the EFRA 2080 (HN, not the OS)? I read someone say the 2080 is a good all-around evolution compared to 2047... Was curious if anyone tried the 2080?
|
I hadn't heard of the 2080 but they show on Amain as an onroad pipe so i'm guessing they are a topend pipe.
Nearly everyone runs the 2072 on their GO engines and has done for years, good bottom, mid and topend power. |
Alright guys, can anyone confirm or get me actual numbers for the timing on the sleeve, and the induction on the crank? Looking for transfer, exhaust and crank opening and closing numbers if at all possible. Thanks in advance! Feel free to email me at [email protected] as well with any information one may have.

The HN EFRA 2080 was only available in the X3 buggy kit, but now it is seperate. http://ofna.com/x3-sabre.php http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...rd-Chrome-Pipe Not doubting the 2072, merely suggesting it may be worth a try. When testing stops, progress stops. :tire: |
That is the same shape as the 2072 and possibly made by the same company, it has the same hot logo.

Probably made by Max Chen like a lot of the other GO, Alpha Plus etc pipes and headers. |
