Go-Tech Engines Thread
I find it interesting that AMain is listing the engine as a Go Technologies engine. This would seem to imply GoTech, which AMain dropped some years ago. Is AMain up to speed with what they are selling? I thought that GoTech was old and Go Engine new.

They also quote the motors as having the Gen6 "2" needle carb, then later on in the features they quote the 3 needle carb.
Pretty sloppy for a big company.
No problem with anything on the carb to my knowledge t8rtot. We have tons of these motors running here, a lot with the 3 needle carb and no problems at all. Can you be a little more specific with what you heard ? Maybe we can clear it up for you. Be a shame if it put you off the motor, as they are a sweet unit.

Eivind, the gen 5 carb and all later model carbs onwards work well and when tuned right will make the motors fast and reliable.
Shane and I have had a few year running and tuning these motors and Shane has very good tuning guides on his website, check it out.

From: Surprise! No, really.
We just finished racing The Dirt Nitro Challenge here in AZ, and I needed to post how much I appreciate all the information I have gathered here over the last year. I ran the GX5R with Dynamite 086 hardcoat in truggy, and GXII5R+Go2072 in buggy. We had temperature swings of 30degrees F, and both my motors ran all week without any complaints or hesitation. I noticed a lot of guys having really terrible luck with their engines, but mine couldn't have been any faster or more reliable. I spent all week stealing lunch money down the 250ft straightaway, and changed plugs for the mains. You can't get any easier than that. I went from 14th place to 6th place in the Truggy Open B Main, and bumped twice in buggy before breaking the front end on an overturned car.
I also really liked the 12V Competition Heat motor warmer I got from Moto Matt at Nitro-North, and powered it from a 3s lipo.
Easy starts every time, great power on the track, not a single flame-out all week.

Nice work Travis
Glad you got good value out of the info from the thread - that's what it's all about.
That sounds like a normal GO race day. Set it and forget it, then just change the plug for the finals, just in case
Hey - GO and Competition Heat, you must have been reading my signature

Hi Travis,
Congratulations! It's great to see that you had a very productive result at the NC!
The world is finally realizing that GO has a commitment to always improve it's product.
Yes, the Competition Heat sure makes racing nitro painless. I have always found my tuning easier and much more consistent with it.
Thanks Shane,
Thanks for the kind words. I'm just trying to follow in your footsteps.

I guess the answer is no. I was wondering the same because I have an OS carb as well. I guess one of us will be the first to try it.
