I have "paper-clips" that measure (1mm. or .393" ) in my tool kit. i always use these to put me "in the ball-park" , guickens the process cause their easy to handle......

The venturi doesn't effect the idle gap, as it doesn't travel all the way down to the slide, but the smaller venturis do make it harder to see the idle gap if your setting it manually.
Even if you set the gap manually with a piece of wire etc, still use the 7 sec pinch method to finally set the idle gap. This is the ultimate way to ensure the gap is correct for your particular motor and set up. This is a dynamic method with the motor actually running, as opposed to a static method where you are really only guessing the gap is correct.

What 6mm are you's using ?

As far as I can remember the kit only has 8mm. 7.5mm, 7mm and a 6.5 mm.

I'v got the inavative designs ones that are 6mm and 5.5mm but I didn't like them on my 66, I found the 7mm to be best for my application and desired performance.

although used, mine came with a 6mm. in the set and it matches the others so it IS a "go" product.

Don't recall ever seeing a 6mm GO restrictor. Maybe it is from another brand of motor and looks the same ?

Flanno - I tried the Innovative Designs 6mm and 5.5mm restrictors as well, and found the same thing. I didn't really like them, and I found economy was no better than with the 6.5mm.
I agree on the 7mm. It is a nice trade off between power and economy for most tracks.

+1 on the 7mm..never found the 6.5 or smaller any better really. The 7mm gives longer run times than the 8mm though without really sacrificing much power.

Tune question. I'm going to tune my engine today and I reset the needles to factory settings. I used a shim to get me in the ballpark for the idle. If it doesn't want to idle, do I adjust LSN until I can get it to stay running? Then start the pinch test?

yes

I actually turn up idle 1/8 turn from the setting with a .7-.8 pin/guage, then lean LSN untill get good idle, then use the pinch method to fine tune it/check how long it takes to spool up and die and how much it spools up.

Time it takes to spool up indicates rich or lean and how much it spools up indicates your idle gap setting.

Guys some a little advice please, I am running a buggy with a GO gx-5r and was wondering what you size clutch bell are you using, I am raced today and even tho i am very happy with my tune, I was seeing the car kick out all over the place and on the straight i was not getting to my top speed.
I am using the standard 13 tooth bell

But was looking to change to maybe a 15 or 16, I probably got this wrong doing this but would it help me on the track, also was thinking of maybe due to change my clutch any suggestions on size of clutch bell and clutches/springs??
