I know it's a drag, but scan back over the last 30 or so pages on here and you will find all the info you need.
Run in, tuning, different needles, tuning methods etc. It's either written out or has a link to a site with the info.
If you have any concerns send me a PM anytime.

i run hot plugs, should i leave it the way it is? weather is getting cold here, in 50's:(

I would think that a "hot' plug is the least you would run in a .21 , especially in cold weather.

I run the OD97T medium plug right through winter here and it performs very well. Temps around 12 - 15 deg C.
The hotter plugs don't necessarily perform better. They tend to fail more often because of the thinner filament, and on 30% can be a little fragile due to the raised compression the higher % nitro creates.
I have run OS P3 in the past, but find the 97T a better option - for me anyway.

The tech tips on that site has everything from run-in to tuning and even maintenance if you read on down. Just make sure you know which needle you have long or short and set your idle gap and low speed first! ;)

You to, my friend.

Much appreciated.

For plug the 97t o'donnell is whats recommended and what most of us use. As far as shims, take a look at the go engine usa website. For tuning you need to find which needle you have. If its the short needle you just tune as normal. For the long needle you need to tune the LSN first and then tweak the HSN as needed. Use the guide on massivemods website as a guide. For tuned pipe, the dynamite 086 is cost effective, good looking and does a great job. The smallest reducer i'd mess with is the 7mm, but thats me, you can try the 6mm if you want.

correction!...for these motors NO MATTER WHAT NEEDLE YOU HAVE,you ALWAYS tune the LSN first to correspond with the idle gap set at or close to .7mm FIRST!... as for the plug on 20% you can run either the od 97t or the od 77t!....and for shimming i run the thick alloy .3mm shim only!...and thats for 20%!....as for the pipes!...i have run the jp4 as you know cause you bought it from me! it will run pretty good on these motors but not the best gas mileage and as for the jp1 i have never ran it so i dont know?

guntek18 09-24-2010 09:42 AM

GOOD ONE.!!:p

You ever try the 6mm. reducer or do you think it might be too much of a pain ??

deadmancourt 09-24-2010 11:42 AM

i have never tried the 6mm restrictor YET!...but just make sure to tune it with that restrictor in it! it shouldnt be a PAIN!

Do-Over 09-24-2010 11:53 AM

What about idle gap? I've heard some say you should set it with the venturi in and others say out.... Anyone care to elaborate?

i set mine with it in, also run a 6mm restrictor, IMO. from 6mm to 7mm doesent make much differnce that i can really tell, on performance and milage, about the same, tuning not much differnt either

if you have a way to measure it,then do it with the venturi OUT!...but most dont have an exact way to measure it...so i just look @ what .7mm looks like on my CALIPERS and then EYBALL it the best I can! lol:lol: with the venturi out! lol
