There's 2 really nice hobby shops in Orlando, Graves hobby shop and Superior Hobbies. I was just in Orlando in December and went to both. The guys at superior really didn't seem to interested in talking about 1/8 buggies since there was no tracks close by them. Their into on-road racing.
Graves hobby shop was very helpful and the place is huge!!!!! It doesn't seem like it from the outside till you walk in. Great guys to deal with! A+
Here's both websites:

Hey guys, new to the site but not R/C i found these GO engines to be a great value after doing some homework, I managed to find one on ebay it is a gen 5.5, it's in great shape but when it comes time to rebuild can I just purchase the TiNi crank and throw it in there? (I do port my engines so I dont know if the TiNi coating would be what I want if there are no other changes to the crank)

Also wondering if any novarossi carbs would fit this engine, I am fond of them, or shall i look for a GXR series carb?

thanks in advance fellas this thread is a wealth of information but it's 600+ pages long lol

TiNi crank will go straight in no problem..I think it's already factory worked and balanced etc.any further work will take off the TiNi but maybe the tuners on here can give better advice than me..Not tried a novarossi carb but OS v-spec ones work fine, but I love the long LSN GO carbs so won't be changing mine any time soon.

Thanks for the info man, I believe if I bought a nice shiny gold crank I wouldn't want to take my dremel to it .

glad to hear the changes are just the coating, hopefully I don't miss out on too much not having a gx-7r

I will give the carb a shot from what a read there was an issue that was resolved with earlier carbs so I might not even try another. (since 5.5 is a pretty recent gen.)

to think I have been spending money on novarossi/RB engines almost makes me want to cry if I get the same performance out of these GO engines, but good for the future

gligoco's price isn't bad, but brazilian stores have to pay lots and lots of taxes.

Ex:
Brazilian money is caled Real = R$

U$ 1,00 = R$ 1,75

gligoco told me the engine cost about R$ 870,00 so U$ 497,00

If i buy the engine in US i'll not pay taxes because i can buy $500 dolars in products without taxes... i'll just spend about $270 dolars

fdjizm if your new to tuning the carbs have a good read on the tuning on massive mods wen site this should give you a good base idea as these carbs are slightly differant to tune

the novarossi carbs do fit in i have a couple of os speed carbs that i have been using and trying differant things with

the gx series carbs are a whole lot better then the older ones but the high speed needle is a very fine tune when adjusting it no more then 1/2 at a time

No not new to tuning carbs at all, just read that little tidbit about carb issues and thought i should stick with my nova comfort zone LOL but i will def. leave the carb on and tune her up.

I will also check out that website they seem more dedicated to this engine brand and shouild have good insight, I have been messing with nitro rc for about 9 years now, I love porting them up , had my little o.s 18tz in my RS4 beating an mrx3 in a straight line race true story. i will enjoy this engine and might buy another one, being that i just got it off ebay for 70 bucks

thanks for the tip on the GX carbs i wouild like to keep the engine all one brand and see how it performs if i could.

Will MG66 parts drop into my GO 5.5 gen 7port?

If they are compatible i might grab the sleeve/carb/crank from them for the next rebuild

Nova carbs fit straight in but i'd give the the gen 5.5 carb a go first just read up on the tuning of the Long lsn if it's got 1.

also if your buying a second hand engine make sure you give it a good going over and just for peice of mind I'd replace the bearings and rod to be on the safe side

hpe you like thm as much as the rest of us
