All this talk about GO Engines so I picked up a 3-port sport as a backup engine for my buggy. Needles seemed good out of the box. It said 25 - 30% nitro, so i assumed its shimmed already for 30% correct? I idle 2 tanks yesterday and started putting around the 3rd tank and this engine seems great!!!!! loads of bottom end snap very peppy engine. This engine might not come out of the buggy. Temps are only at 185 so far on tank 3, do I really need 10 tanks before race tune? Any suggestions on the break-in, I am just following the instructions to the T.

Go Engines come shimmed for 30% out of the box, I used the heat cycle method to break in my Go, I did put 12 tanks through before race tune though.

if running 20% can I drop a small shim after Break in?? on a 7 port

The stock .21 shimming from factory is .55 1 x .3.5 and 2 x .1 with standard head button , if you were to go to 30% nitro id pop in the extra shim to bring it up to .65 or stay at .55 and convert to turbo head button .

After your first few tanks for idle start to run the engine in the car on high traction surface . Its important to keep the engine warm to hot during break in , once you get to 1 litre then start to tune for racing .. thats a safe way to go ,

Dont baby it too much , they are a strong engine :batman:

Amboy33, how is the 3 port working for ya?

NitroMag2 04-02-2008 04:20 PM

i have a Go 5 port, this past weekend i ran the motor with a 9886 NR pipe and got 9.5 min! the motor is super fast a really smooth. Thanks to Pro Twister Mods;) I ran a the Battle at the Beach, the track was smooth, grooved, but also a little slick in some sections, some motors that i have owned have not taken well to smooth throttle input, but this motor does. Great job on this one Brian

Are 3 port race specs only made in batches of 20? Why can't you find them even listed on any website? How much do the cost? What do the even look like? I see everybody talking about them so why can't i find one?

YANMAN 04-03-2008 12:38 PM

Murnan Modifieds has them in stock or mod versions.

If you look a few pages back there are pictures of the 3 port race spec. They sell for $179.99 and are a bargain, Russell can only get a few at a time so there gone right away. Brian at Pro Twister sells them, I also have 2 right now not spoken for.

So what your saying is at 20% I should leave the shims.. thought it was shimmed for 30?

Do you think the 25 would be better for the truggy of the 5port turbo.
