Default head clearance

I just started running in my new 7port turbo.
I'm using the new HN2062 pipe and OS#6 plugs, Byron 25%
The head clearance is .5mm (stock .3mm+.1mm separate shim that comes with engine) and I aded another .1mm from my old RB for Run in. So total is .5mm. Is the clearance ok like this??

Default break in

How many tanks did it take everyone to get the 5 port broke in? This engine seems REAL tight compared to other engines I have broke in.

GS CL-1 rocks!

Default Tuning Dial

Tree,
On that tuning dial .... I didn't see GOs listed, did you do the custom measure order or did you choose on of the other engines that was a compatable size?

Hi Brian, I was about the same as will g. It takes around 1.5 gallons before the 5 ports have anywhere near "normal pinch". I have just hit the 2 gallon mark on my truggy motor, and it will now turn over by hand without too much trouble. I ran the extra run in shim for the first gallon, and it was so much easier to start and run during initial use.
I fitted the turbo head button after 1.5 gal as well, and it made a big difference in overall performance.

Indigo - love that Storm CL-1 - from one Storm driver to another

does anyone know if the ball link from an OS carb will fit on the 5 port carb?

I have a GO and OS engine I have, and it's a PITA to have to swap ball cups on the linkage from small and large each time. I'd like to buy an extra OS ball link end pc. and put it on the 5 port.

Yeah its about 4 litres before run time, and pinch is good.
Its a pain in the butt but its worth the wait, you will know when its there cause run time increases alot.

Which OS is that? I have the 5 port and a V Spec and I switch back and forth all the time with the same ball cup. I didn't even know they were different.

your lucky the ball cup has never popped off the 5 port, unless your using the smaller ball cup on the Vspec.

when I first ran the 5 port, I had to put a ball cup from the GT2 linkage on my RC8, because it kept popping off the Go carb. when comparing the vspec and Go ball links side by side they (GO) are smaller.

Good to know. I'll have to look at them tonight. Both engines are out right now so it won't be hard.

I ordered the one for the Novarossi carbs the number is NT116-R-B. If you can't find your engine listed then use a set of calipers (if you have them) and measure your HSN housing as directed on the site.

This was taken from R/C Hardware website:

Engines not in the list can usually be fitted with a N-Tune tuning dial.
Measurements must be taken with precision calipers or micrometers.
Diameter measurements are the most important and height measurements
are some what less critical for the designed fit.

Height is the distance from
the top of the housing to
the top of, or beginning of
the nut.

The Ball off the 20 e range wont go on .. the 21 range of OS carbs the ball will fit for the Go carb no problem , that cobvers V Spev up to OS Speed models.

Hope this helps
