Hi, I just bought a Novarossi Nova Mito 4 engine that I bought with a tekno NB 2.1 slider. The guy I bought it off of was willing to throw the engine in with a pipe for another 50 bucks so I thought I’ll give it a shot. The engine has less than or about 5 gallons on it.
My question is, is it worth getting the engine tuned up? I was going to send it to Adam Drake to give it a look over and replace the worn parts if he can to give the engine of spruce up. I may use this buggy for racing, but I just wanted a really durable basher nitro buggy for now that I could race in the future, if I wanted to.
Furthermore, I need a whole clutch assembly as it didn’t come with one. I know parts can be hard to source for this discontinued engine, so I’m not sure if they’re around. Does anyone know where I can get a clutch assembly for this? What would you recommend?

You will need a complete Tekno https://www.ebay.com/itm/36517808604...xI0SAyQJxPAoNY or Losi clutch. Other brands won’t work unless you use the J&T Tekno mount https://www.amainhobbies.com/j-t-bea...747-1/p1538779 Keep in mind that it’s normal for crazy clutch shimming with Tekno. The J&T engine mount JTB-JT10747-1 listed on the top of the page in the Amain link is a revised mount so it will work with the Protek clutch which is a great clutch and imo the best out there. As for the Novarossi you could contact Gimar on facebook as he might have some leftover Novarossi stock. You can use Nova plugs which can be obtained from Serpent America or Bones Motorsports and bearings can probably be found on eBay.
What're the nova plugs? Can’t you just use regular glow plugs?

IIRC, the buggy and truggy use the same clutch setups, maybe some spring changes to tune for buggy, but they're the same parts outside of that.
The chart for the glow plugs is a pdf you can google, or here:

Find what you need and see if the specific part is available on eBay.

OS plugs work fine in a Novarossi.
But to be honest, I would not invest a lot on that engine. Run it as it is and when needed buy something new. It would be a shame if you spend some money on it and tomorrow it will break down.

that’s what I was thinking. Not really worth the money to invest in it more, but wasn’t sure. I’ll do what you’re suggesting and just beat on it till it breaks then buy something new and nice.

Is there any issues with this Mito? If you decide to go a different route. I would be interested in purchasing it from you. I buy, sell and refresh rebuild engines. I currently have about 30 Novarossi or Novarossi based engines in stock. I also have the tooling to re pinch sleeves.
