apart from that a great car to build
cant wait to see it on the track but
this was my concern. i think the adjustable ackerman isnt required , but i do think the alloy layshaft bearing holder should be in it, just a question ? is there front and rear Cv's ?im hoping there is

Just finished testing my 2nd G4s with the IDM Evo3 and ED at Crystal Park (southern cal) and all I can say is that this combo was insane. The engine only needed 2 tanks of idle break-in and 1 more tanks on the track and it was ready. This has to be the easiest engine to break-in, and it did not lock at tdc like the OS and Novas. The 2nd speed engagement was coming in too early so I had to button down the two screws. (BTW, I did not have to shorten the screws). This was my first time at this track, and with the car handling great, it made it very easy to learn the lines around the track. This narrow, medium size track, which held the 2006 200mm nitro nationals, was just a bit dusty and had medium traction yesterday.

This was my set-up
Front:
width 197mm
ride height: 5mm
droop: 1mm
toe out: 1 degree
camber: 1 degree
shock spring, oil, position: Aqua, kit oil, 2nd from bottom
sway bars: 90degrees
tires: GQ 42 shores, 58mm
Front one-way

Rear:
width 200
ride height: 5mm
droop: 4 mm
toe in: 2 degree
camber: 2.5
shock spring, oil, position: stock silver, kit oil, 2nd from bottom
sway bars: 90degrees
tires: GQ 42 shores, 60mm
Diff oil: 30k

The car had excellent turn in and good on power steering. The rear end was planted but would get squirmy only when I hit a dusty patch.

After 3 tanks, my brand new steering servo (Fut 9550) started to act up. On the back straight, I let go of the throttle to get ready for the sweeper, but the steering did not work. The car crashed on the tire barriers. Luckily, there was no damage. The servo was working again, so I put the car back on the track for a couple more laps, and the steering servo would intermittently not respond. The battery was at charged and the connections were tight. So I gave the new car a rest and fired up the old one.

so is that 2 thumbs up for the IDM ?
it is a fast engine, just lets see how the reliability and service life goes . i have mistreated mine due to my fuel tank issues, it was hot then it was rich , i thaught it may have been time to get a new one. but the following round with a new tank , presto it came alive.

i hit front fense corner...

i suffered from lack of rear grip...

i changed shock spring, shock oil, rear toe-in, down-stop etc on...

But i could not find lack of rear grip...

so i ranked 4th in the best lap on today... (17.157 sec)

But i find stripped front belt just now!!!!!

gansei, if you change the front belt and you still have a traction problem, try muppet's setting of 5mm of spacers under the outer rear top link. I have found this lower roll centre setting to be very good.

Default Rear Springs

I have just 99% assembled G4S and have query with silver factory spring for rear. I feel too hard. Is anyone racing with factory silver spring in rear? I have put in V one RRR spring in back for now as dont have Team Magic Spring Kit ??

The silver springs all around actually work quite well on our track Mark.

thanks ZOOM...

But according to my knowledge..

rear traction is bad as more spacers under the outer rear top link..

so i tried 0~1mm spacers under the outer rear top link for rear traction..

is it wrong?

The more spacers on the outer top link the lower the roll centre. Lower roll centre will generate more grip on power while turning but it will make the change of direction a little bit slower.

Patto,

At least with my trials, this engine was running at
200-210 C and did not loose the tune. To me, the car was flying, but only in a race can I really compare. I've heard other people with JL Picco had 4 gallons thru it and still running good, so ours should last a while. I'm only gonna use it for races. I have other older motors for practice. Good luck with yours!!!
