Serpent 705
#2311
That's weird, I have never had problems with the Serpent wheel nuts, only other brands.
As for tricks with the 705, do you mean in assembly, or set-up?
I found that posts by IntialD, modellor, nizee and punisher all very informative (not to be too ingratiating...). Read back through them, as there are lots of good tips. Mytsn.com has tons of good info, especially in the setup section.
Couple of questions:
1) Do you find that the front outdrives become chipped where the dogbone contacts them (in particular, the two 'nipples' on the dogbone end-ball part)? Is there any way of preventing this?
2) What spring colours correspond with the various stiffnesses (is that a word?)? I can't find any info on mytsn.

40 shore tires...65m.m.
droop...-2 on the gauge
5m.m. ride height
Front end...2deg`s. camber
3deg`s. toe out
35/w serpent oil 1 hole
One way
yellow spring
3m.m. shortened wheel base
1.2 m.m. shims under the front bulk heads as well as under the radio plate middle of car.
Narrowed sway bar by 1/3rd. (Flat)
All the caster shims up front
40 shore tires at 65m.m.
droop...#5
6m.m. ride height
Rear end....3.0deg`s. camber
1.5 deg`s. toe in
35/w serpent oil 3 hole
yellow spring
4.5m.m. shim in top arm
stock sway bar
Tight diff seting
All stock pullys
Protoform 2.1 dodge stratus mounted 2m.m. toward the rear of the car(align the body so the rear tire is 2m.m. forward of the rear cut line) the rear wing is in the middle mounting location.
If you want more high speed stabillity run the spill plates that come with the body.
I hope you will like this...it will make the car steer a great deal and be very stable

Doen't really understand your question 1, but i guess u refer to wear off when metal to metal contact?
below are the spring rate: -
SER 909414 Orange 1.4 mm / 22.7 mm / 27.0 mm
SER 909415 White 1.5 mm / 22.7 mm / 27.0 mm
SER 909416 Yellow 1.6 mm / 22.7 mm / 27.0 mm
SER 909417 Red 1.7 mm / 22.7 mm / 27.0 mm
SER 909418 Blue 1.8 mm / 22.7 mm / 27.0 mm
Being Orang is the softest.

The other problem could be that you're having too much steering throw. Reduce it and the problems with dogbones coming out will be less. Also when the steering throw is a lot, the dogbone shaft will rub against the edge of the outdrives at the steering blocks. I think that could be your problem that the outdrives become chipped.

The Veteq springs come in different colours. White, yellow, red and blue. Arranged from softest to hardest in that order.
The set of springs for Impulse, Impact, Vector etc (shorter rear springs) have an additional softer spring than white which is the orange.
Comparing these two sets together, the same colour rear spring from the Veteq is slightly softer. Front springs should be the same.

901414 Shock springs (white)
901415 Shock springs (yellow)
901416 Shock springs (red)
901417 Shock springs (blue)
The rear springs are 30 mm which is 3 mm longer than the other set.

I believe V/Tech springs are a bit longer than the others!

705 Question
Looking at getting a new car, the list is as follows:
1: NTC3
2: MTX-3
3: Reflex NT Team Only
4: G4
and of course the 705.
But i keep hearing things about the 705 that are making me stear away from it. Does this car have any problems? Does this car have a durability issue? Does this car have a problem running a sedan body on a fairly tight track(180x80)medium to high grip.
Thanks for any and all input,
Later,
1: NTC3
2: MTX-3
3: Reflex NT Team Only
4: G4
and of course the 705.

Crash, To be honest every car on the market has its problems. The 705, MTX3 and the NTC3 are not exempt from this. But any problems are minor ones which can be easily remedied on any of the cars.
The Serpent is very robust and the materials are made with racing in mind (Not much flex in the plastic parts). I have heard and read a lot of posts from different people that they couldnt get any steering with the 705 on tighter tracks with many twisty turns. I have yet to witness this. Yes the 705 has a little less off-power steering but I have no problems getting it around a 1foot apex hairpin tight in race conditions.
As for TC shells. This one is new to me. At this time all we are running is TC shells and the car handles superbly with them.
