I think you only need to worry if you have the "old" MT-12. Else, just about every other engine now is a short rod type

did u all clean the inside or ur new engines? if so, how?
all i did was put fuel in the carburator(sp?) and spray it out the backplate with a can of compressed air
and my conrod isnt very shiny at all
was urs when it was new?

Anyways you should not have to disassemble an engine to "clean it" unless something is wrong. Do your parents disassemble their car engine when they wash it?
When you are done running it burn off all the fuel by trying to start it until it will no longer fire then put some afterrun oil into the carb and the glowplug hole. That should be all you have to do.

anyhow, the manual says to clean the inside of the engine before running
ohh, and by the way, i dont think u should be puttin in after run oil in through ur carb cause it could deteriorate the o-rings(just a thought)

Yes before starting a brand new engine it can pay to disassemble and check it for burrs etc. But ONLY if you are experienced, if you are a novice the chance of improper reassembly far outweighs the chance of a small burr.
I dunno about the o-ring thing I have been using afterrun oil for some years and never had an o-ring fail yet. In fact most engines have o-rings in the backplate so if you really believe this you should not use ANY afterrun oil. O rings cost like $1 anyhow, rusted bearings a lot more
