Hmm, i'm trying to do this conversion and i have the OS2 rear uprights (903257), Rear wheel axles OS2 (903268), rear quick release springs OS2 (903270) and shim wheel axle OS2 18x12x1mm (903290). I cant find 903266, 903267, 903269 anywhere on Serpent's site.

I'm having trouble because the front quick release springs are too big to fit when the wheel pin is on the outer hole in the wheelaxle. Also those shims are not enough to get to the new pin position.

Why is this not in any of Serpent's manuals ??!!!

I'm running the Central Lola on my 960 and hear good things about the Xceed Zytec, Parma R12 and the MLC Peugeot 908. The R12 is nearly half the price of the other 2, so it is at the top of my list, but how does it compare against the other 2?

hi Greg, i'm using Xceed Zytec body shell now...it's gv me few sec faster than using central body shell....beside that, it's do give me smoother and faster in cornering when compare to Central.

central is more steering than Xceed but it's can make u feel a bit nervous during cornering...

this is my 2 cent opinion...my driving and your driving might be different....

When you shorten your wheelbase, you should be able to feel the difference with each mm change. Also, when you shorten the wheel base by 4mm you may need to cut the back side off of the sway bar opening. Where the opening is for the sway bar on the '08, there is not enough room to shorten the wheelbase by more than 3mm without cutting.

I tried shortening the wheel base 2mm and was surprised at the difference. The car rotated better in the corner at low speed, but I found the car alittle inconsistent so went back to the long. What tended to happen is I'd come into the corner at speed and as the car slowed, all of a sudden I got a huge amount of grip and the car over steered. Maybe I just need to work on it abit more, but all the Mugen boys run long wheel base, so I'll probably stick with that. Its a tightish track, but it is very bumpy. I'm the only Serpent, so it has its good points and bad points.

I'm going to get some Parma R12's to try out in a few weeks. The others are too pricey at the moment.

Our Nationals are on a large open track, the straight is near 100m, so cars are fair flying. It has been suggested to use the Protoform Frisbee. Has anyone tried the Frisbee?

The main problem with the Zytec is the price. I'll give the R12 a try first and place some feedback against the Central Lola.

Have you tried shortening the rear end of the car, instead of the front! Ive used this on several tracks with great results, you can hold more corner speed with out makeing the car feel like its to sensitive to your inputs. it only takes 1.5mm to 2mm to make a big deference so be careful, you have to grind the lower and upper rear arms, and place a shim behind the rear arms. Hope this helps!

Shortening the wheelbase by the rear arm will give more rear traction, wheras the front will give more steering. I'm after abit more steering, which I could do by running 35's all round, but the fronts would then wear too fast, so at the moment I run a 40 on the outside front, a 37 inside front and rears are 35. My track is very abrasive, the asphalt was laid near 30 years ago and is still original, so a set of tires will last only about 4 5 minute races. Its not cheap to race, but hopefully we get a new track in a few years and a set of tires will last alot longer.

An R12 is about $24 - 28 USD, so near half the price.

No-one here but us chickens...

I've been out of RC for a few years now... got back into motorcycle racing and other stuff. Nice to know that my articles (esp. the Centax ones) are still being referred to.
