I hope you're not using the Silver Centax Spring with the light weight clutch shoes. Heard that they don't mix well, altogether.

I had to do something like that to my 710 shoe, and also add weight to the flyweights

wich BTW the prospec comes with the lightweight ones which take a little long to engage then the regural MTX3 weights

Well, I've never tried it myself, but was told it's better to use stock centax spring with light weight shoes, and harder silver centax spring--the one with prospec--with stock shoes.

DATA probably knows best.

No wonder my car doesn't feel right. I have the hard silver spring with the light fly weights and the red shoe..........Is that not the set up to use?.........

Johnnytc3 08-07-2004 09:06 PM

I use the red shoes/super hard spring/light flywieghts without any problems.

How do you know if your clutch is slipping?
What is the sign?

Johnny,

What is your measurement of the spring retainer? 0.8 or what? I appreciate it.

takes away weight, engage later; hence, grab harder.

best,

Eddie,

What did DATA use to cut the shoe? It looks great!

Johnnytc3 08-08-2004 06:29 AM

actually, there is no thread showing, the retainer is flush with the sg nut. Lots of punch though

I'm using the stock Prospec clutch (grey shoe, super hard spring, light flyweight) and works great except at the very beginning of a main. Need to work on engine tuning I guess. I've tried the red shoe and had some problems with it rubbing the bell, didn't notice any difference in car performance compared with the grey. The big advantage to running the red is the red shoe lasts longer due to the material is made of.

Eddie, that modification is definately interesting. You don't notice any slipping due to less surface area on the clutch shoe?
