Mugen shocks are great.....my opinion anyway....earlier this year, I built a total of 12 shocks "one-time" each without having to disassemble and re-fill.......couldn't believe it....

With the shock shaft pulled down completely, fill the shock to the top.....work the shock to remove air and let it sit as long as possible or use the vacuum pump on it to remove all possible air.....push the shaft up about 3/4 travel (near the top) and start to slowly screw on the cap. Excess oil should bleed out the overflow hole in the cap and the shaft should re-bound to an extended position SLOWLY.....

The exact amount of built-in rebound that you leave behind isn't that critical......as long as it's the same on both sides and the car is tuned to it......Forceful rebound is similar to a slightly stiffer spring.....weak rebound will be like a slightly softer spring....

I usually try to get the shock shaft to fully rebound slowly.....if it doesn't rebound completely, start over....if it comes out too hard or you cannot push it in completely, then you have too much oil...you can break the seal and bleed off a little oil....

The vacuum pump I spoke of earlier is made by Ride.....check this out.....it's the best thing for shock building since silicone oils.....I highly recommend.....and if you have one and it doesn't pull a strong vacuum.....simply oil the plunger well with shock oil...it should come back to life....

Bivens, Does the volume of 3/4 of the shaft roughly equal that of the displacement of the bladder? (meaning, no room for air)

They used to pul sugarwater but they will try VHT for the Nats... What should I expect?

When you complete the process...if you find out that the shaft won't fully compress...then you've simply screwed the cap on fully while the shaft was extended too far.....

If you end up leaving"no room for air" then the rebound will be excessively strong also and you won't have full travel available.....not good....simply break the seal and push the shaft in.....bleeding off some oil....then tighten and re-check. If necessary, clean it out and try again.

Typically I get good results with screwing on the cap while the shaft is about 3/4 out......then screw the cap on slowly....

Expect traction rolling.

I'm having the worst traction rolling problems with Sugarwater...
I can't imagine what is going to be with the vht...

Maybe I'll have to set the car lower and lower and limit the bottoming on the upstops...

I would try a stiffer oil; try 800 wt. stiffer springs, I used 1/8th. pink rears on the front of my mtx3 at the biggie with softer rears like stock. Try more camber, 4deg. in the rear, 3deg. in the front, you can also try slowing your servo speed down so the car wont be so twitchy with your radio input.Also try a stiffer sway bar.

where can i get the front inside parts for my diff in my mtx3 the kit comes with the housing, are the front and rear diffs the same inside? and what oil should be used for a parking lot track with some tight turns and a low bite surface?

and do i need anything else to run a diff up front in this car?

I broke a front shock shaft after traction rolling in a state final once, the traction rolling problem went away immediately. Lap times went down but.

rjl are you going to be competing in the QLD state titles, we don't use VHT up here. But since we had the track cleaned early this year the grip is excellent. I've never in the 3 years of racing seen the track so good. Natural grip is always better than man made grip.
