nope you can't and this why the new outer bearing is a 6x13 on the new car.
The outer bearing on the old car is a 10x15
:(

the plastic steering hub has the same dimensions apart from the bearing holes.
if you use mtx2 plastic steering hubs, bearings you can then use the uj's
same for the rear, use mtx2 rear hubs bearing and out drive it will work
Yokomo uk team ran mtx2 hubs on thier cars in UK championship!

Question:::

Would the MTX-3 be a good kit to get for my first 1/8? This will not be my first RC.

asd 11-27-2002 02:23 PM

NEMMITH 11-27-2002 02:27 PM

Greetings,
I too have an MTX3 as my first nitro tourer, and whilst I am still bitching about the engine (I need a starter box!), indeed comparing how the car handles *on rubber*, the stock setting's handling feels very similar to my trf414m. I have tried V1rs and impulses before, all off 'em had quite boring reaction timing in the corners. Whereas the MTX3 was able to do chicanes and hairpins like my 414m. This is bad. I may actually want to race nitro!!!!

Agreed. I'm almost giddy. For one, I don't know if it's this MR12 or the drive ratio of this car, but this thing is friggin FAST! It felt as quick as my modified pixie and It had two tanks in it!

I'm running 25% more steering travel (based on my radio epa) than I was on V1RR and this thing handles more like an electric than a nitro. I'm hooked.

Robbie I'm going to sell 5 kits for you this weekend when I spank everyone's tail with this car :D What to do with my Kyosho's now?

asd 11-27-2002 03:52 PM

i may be the only one but i dont understand what it means to handle like an electric car

Racing4Evo 11-27-2002 10:19 PM

Electric cars are so much better than nitro cars when it comes to transitioning(change of direction). I don't know if you've ever seen elec. racing but some of these guys take the turns after they past the apex and still stay on the racing line! Their weight or better yet lack of it is mainly why they are so good switching back from left to right and vis versa. Nitros on the other hand more closely resemble a real race car where smooth is flowing is the name of the game.........What I'm trying to say is that ,supposedly, you can toss this thing around like it weighs next to nothing.

Racing4Evo 11-27-2002 10:35 PM

I got the car and it done and ready for an engine. I must say this has been the easiest kit I've ever built. I noticed a little slope(about 1-2mm) of play in the rear suspension arms. I fixed it with some 1mm washers in the kit but I was wondering if anyone else noticed this problem. Other gripes are binding from the brakes and the tiny screws used to secure the motor mounts to the chassis. I found some neat things I could use on my MRX-3 like the receiver cover and personal transponder mount. The thing I really liked about this kit was the fact that it included a starter box adapter making starting 2x easier. :D Should have it running by next week or as soon as I decide what engine I want to try. There is the Sirio, Rossi, and RB-so many choices but not enough money.
