Raced the Mugen for the first time today, with basicly the box setup. I was very happy with the way that it drove, and it was good right out of the box. The only real issue that I had with the car all day was the loosening of steering screws, which I never put lock-tight on when I built the car.

It was a little looser than what I would have liked, but it was driveable. The 2-spd shifted a little later than I wanted, so I did adjust that a little bit, still not enough.

I burnt through the 37's though.. wow.. My rear tires have about half a day left on them, and the fronts probably would make it through a whole day.

I'm running 40's all the way around (sometimes run a 42 on front, but usually just 40) with the box set up except a little more ground clearance, and purple front springs.

I believe Electric WC Surikarn Chaidajsuriya used this gear set (from Kawahara I believe) when he was supplied with the MTX3.

3racing 4mm is the worst i have seen.

get either kawahara or mugen 4mm, they both have recess areas to keep low CG.

By the way, did your kit come with a flywheel collet? I didn't find one in the kit or the instructions. I just used the collet that came with the MR12(bought it separately). It seems to fit right and the pinion/spur combo matches up well.
Also, I noticed that on the back of the manual where they list all the parts with drawings, the collet and part number is covered with a sticker. And a separate parts list sheet does not have the collet listed. So will the collet that came with my MR12(as previously posted above) be sufficient enough? The pinion/spur seem to match up well. What do you guys use?

Manti, why would you say that?

I have rune the 3racing chassis for a few month now, and I love it.

i have bad experience with their chassis for V1R/RR their engine mount is made of very soft alloy. the chassis for V1RR has bad screw alignment.

pricewise, their chassis for MTX3 is way over price and material in use is in doubt. the mugen or the kawahara one are just the same price level but you will get better product quality. i.e. value for money.

does the 3 racing have a web site. and from what I can see the three racing chassi does not raise cg but steals 1mm of ride height. Since the extra mm is below the hinge pins I dont se how that raises cg. If I am wrong please explain. jack H

Default MTX-3 & Wet weather

Hi Guys,

Had a bad day today at the first round of the MMAI national championship.

It rained VERY heavy throughout the day, the rain was hopping off the ground about 2 feet!

We ran our cars in between the showers.

First I lost a throttle servo, then I had a problem with radio glitches, water in the receiver!

Then my two speed started to act up going down the straight it sounded like it was attempting to go into 2nd then drop out then back in, out, in etc.

I did manage to keep ahead of a 2003 SMP Slide for about 4 laps . . . he was on foams & I was using wet weather rubber!!

Any ideas on the two speed?

All the best
