With the stock gear ratio 19/24 is the car overdrive or underdrive my calculations show it 50/50. Just wondering what route to go if I want a slight overdrive. either the 16/19 conversion or 24/23 front side pulley.

The traxxas 4 tec belt is the right size as well. You might want to soak it in something to soften it up a bit but it is the right lenght and tooth size.

Sorry to go off topic but could someone please tell me or point me to the stock settings for the 3 needle carb on the Nova MR12 motor that came with the MTX3 kit?
I have the mtx3 instruction manual but it has nothing to do with the motor tuning!

Thanks,
Brett

hello..guys,

well yesteday was the first time i drove my x3 with the 2nd speed unenganged in a 45 min. main... only after the first refill it happen. anyway i was able to finish in 3rd place ...i myself was rather "astonish" that i could even finish ...

---somehow this drivin with only 2nd speed available was not that bad, my finger was on full throttle more ..and the car handling felt easier , of course it was terrible in the bottom end situation

so now got to find what needs to be replace ? is it the whole 2speed set or just the adaptor in the middle...thanks.

MTX3's clutch two speed adaptor is fragile, I had that problem too and it is due to the two speed adaptor . If you take it out for inspection you would find a groove in the middle of the flat surface . This is due to the ball grinding into the adaptor and overshoot the flat spot thus jamming the clutch open.

First remedy I took was to do away with the ball and replaced the set screw that holds the ball in place to an 8mm set screw of the same size, no more jammned two speed clutch BUT engagement is erratic. The 8mm set screw is doing the job now.

Second remedy was to have the two speed adaptor machined from a hard nylon and that cured the two speed getting stuck on my mtx3. Not cheap though but it beats having problem during mains or practise.

Hope that helps

Hey guys been looking all morning for this and can't seem to track it down, what is the gears that come in the .9 spur / ring gear set? I keep stripping second gear and I think it is because I have too big a gap from first gear to second...

Thanks!

I think your gear ratio is way out, this was discussed some where in here before, maintain 6 tooth difference between the 1st and second you should be fine.

Hi there,

MTX3 spur gears are the same like in MTX4 : 53 & 59 ( 0.8 pitch ).
