Try C steering ackerman : C is the softest turning action eventhough you have fast hand. Some people have smooth hand and some don't ( like me ). You could also try to reduce dual rate and exponential rate from your radio tuning option. |
update
i have been picking you racers brains all season and it has paid of tremendous, i am currently first in my class with an absence of the leader at one race but anyway. my car has gotten better and better with every race. the biggest improvement came after setting my droop for the first time! never thought up travel would hurt but weight transfer is the key.
calming down and not going full throw every turn is a good idea too, just taking my time and driving the car. my setup and driving got me two laps over my best race this sunday and it was great!!!! thanks again |
Wanna get MTX4 with MTX3 ? I think it's do able : Custom made radio plate, Get MTX4 fuel tank, Custom made bottom plate for battery, Side Pack AAA batteries.
What do you think ? http://www.mugenracing.com/MTX4/4%D75_02.jpg |
to the machinist hands, yes, it probably is doable. but to me, i'll just get the real deal and go with the mtx-4 :D

Changes????
I saw the pics on the Mugen thread too. Your forgetting the geometry changes involved. 5.5mm longer arms for starters. The car just looks alike. I bet their's only 40% parts interchangability...My biggest impression was the 5cell flat pack. They couldn't do that from the start? Also the easy diff/oneway removal is a major plus!

I am going to be racing this track in Ohio for the next two weekends and it is part of the Midwest Series in the US . It looks way bigger than I am used to. Any one out there race at this track that can give my Mugen and I good starting point setup? Gears, tires, springs for sure would be helpful. I need a starting point. Hopefully I got the link in here correctly.
Thanks JEFF http://www.tri-statercautoracers.com...pics/track.jpg |
Info Midwest series Race
The track has Changed several times . That picture is old I ran there two year's ago with Larry Stone . I think that picture was a couple years old then. All I can tell you is run in the middle on your first gear, and your largest second gear ratio. Straight is about 250 feet or so . This track is Soooo Sweet :tire: 40 's on rear 42's on front 1 deg camber front 2 deg camber rear front toe 1 deg rear toe . This track is very fast as for springs depends on Your driving style . Track is very smooth with excellent traction. Start from here and adjust . NO front diff oneway only .

Ok thanks. That sounds about right. I just got my Prospec so, I need to pick up some gears. I am looking forward to it. The biggest track I have run on so far was this year at the Beat the Heat race in Memphis which for me was hugh. The Nashville track and Alabama tracks I usually run are small and you run the lowest pinions you have and you have to run a front diff or even a front spool if the bit is good. Should be fun!!

Just wonder is it neccessary to provide tire traction compound for sponge tire during a long race. Will it help to reduce wear and better grip?
|
I don't think so, tire compound will not last 30 minutes main nor reduce tires wear. Better grip ? yes for first 5 minutes.
I suggest to check your setup again like ride height, tires thickness and chamber. I think tire compound is not necessary when you are using fresh new tires. However, 1 month old tires maybe need tire compound to soften the sponge. |
Anyone think I should sell my two current onroads and toss in some $$ for the MTX3 prospec or just get one of ebay? I never really bought a used ride.
|
Yes, sell them and get MTX4 or MTX3 prospec.
This is what I do if I have to buy MTX3 Prospec : 1. Buy Front & Rear suspension arms from MTX4 ( don't know if they are fit or no.... must try first ). MTX4's suspension arms are wider than the 3. 2. Position throttle servo's ears underneath carbon fiber radio plate. See MTX4 photo. 3. Re-route the servo + on-off wires to the inside ( between throttle servo and fuel tank ). 4. And these from 3racing : http://www.3racing.com.hk/Image/MTX3/MTX3011_s.jpg http://www.3racing.com.hk/Image/MTX3/MTX3003_s.jpg http://www.3racing.com.hk/Image/MTX3/MTX3004_s.jpg http://www.3racing.com.hk/Image/MTX3/MTX3018_s.jpg |
Yeah, I'll think about it as I'm in need of a spektrum radio. Wah, you mean after the prospec buy all that? C'mon is it really necessary? :weird:
