The difference in the number of teeth should be the same between the pinions and spurs. I hope you understand what I am trying to say.

For example, If you are running 21/27 for pinions, the difference in the number of teeth is 6. The spurs you choose should also have a difference of 6. If you keep it the same, you will have fewer stripped gears.

What would be a good starting setup for an MTX-3 non prospec car for a blacktop parking lot type of track , last year it was a little bumpy here and there . We ran foam tires , 37-40 were the most popular compounds . I would like a car thats easy to drive and has a neautral feel to it , thanks

Question for you guys after putting the car back together I noticed my gearing is 16/20 43/47. All the setup sheets that I have seen are 21/27 53/59. Is there anything I need to do to change my gearing besides buying new spur and pinion gears? With the current gearing how will that effect the car?

Okay I think I might have found out the difference. So the 53/59 setup is fine pitch. Is that similar to 64 pitch in electric racing? If someone could help me out with this that would be great.

Yes, it would similar to going from 48 to 64 pitch gears.

Thanks Scott.

Just a few quick questions.

I have asked this once before but i will ask it again. Im building a front diff and am just wondering what oil i should run in it. I am using 30,000wt in the rear and the track is tight with medium grip.

Also a question about the rear blocks. On a tight medium grip very smoothe track would the A block ussually be recommended? Is the A block generally used on smoothe tracks regardless of weather its high or low speed?

What is the difference between the 0.8 and 1.0 two speed? What does the .8 and 1.0 mean?

Does the Prospec come with the .8 two speed?

0.8 module have finer pitch than the 1.0 module. There is many more ratios available in the 0.8 module and some say they are smoother.

Prospec comes with 0.8 module

cheers

I'm just finishing up my MTX-3 Prospec and waited until last to put the tires on. I slid the front tires on and noticed they fit right up tight to the steering arm and linkage. What am I doing wrong here? I wanted to ask the forum before unnecessarily tearing it all down. I've followed the instructions and everything else with the front end looks to be in order. Here are some photos:

Are the housings and parts different from the regular 1.0 and .8 twos speeds, or is just the spur and pinions different?

Are you sure those aren't rear tires? I can't see the whole thing, but they look kinda wide.

LOL! That's a possibility! It was 1 am when I put them on. I didn't even look that close at them, I just grabbed them out of the box. To put the whole thing together without a problem and reverse the tires at the end--that would be classic!

I'll have to check when I get home from work.

Hehe. Sometimes I kill me. :)

I will speak from experience...if you are up late building a car - crap like this happens every time, I do not care who you are. I will bet that is your problem.

I used a servo linkage as a turnbuckle one time, not funny after 10 hours at three in the morning.
