Check that all the pulley set screws are on the flat spots of the shaft. I had that happen a few times. You pick that car up and give the wheels a spin and it all looks good, but under load from the engine it just spins free. Loosen them all and tighten them up again w/a little blue locktite.

thanks for all the suggestions. looks like i have some work to do!

Also check the dogbones or universals. If you are missing one, that could cause it to veer.

Then I noticed that my rear differential was "oily", like it had leaked. Could this be it? I am planning a rebuild of the rear dif. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.
Because this problem is major and you need to rebuild the diff anyway, I think it's time to rebuild everything and inspect all parts.

what is the maximum weight of the car according to IFMAR including full tank, full set of tires and transpounder?

thanks

hmmm.. i'm curious to know the maximum weight also. i always thought the only concern is the minimum weight.

I don't think there such a thing as maximum weight.

If anything - everyone else would be happy that you're over weight! :D

brooklynrc 04-27-2005 08:15 AM

that is good to know becauase i thought that they were measuring max weight also. but you are right, it makes sense, max weight should not be an issue

Derby Bros Racing 04-27-2005 10:20 AM

that's what i thought

teammpp 04-27-2005 10:50 AM

no max weight rule. just min weight at 1725g.

To ensure you dont go below this weight it is best to weigh the car with rims but no foam or very very worn full wheels.

tire diameter

what is the result of running smaller diameter tires up front?

and vice versa?

Scott Fisher 04-29-2005 06:27 PM

The car won't handle quite right with larger fronts. Besides that, most people find the rears wear faster, so you normally start with smaller fronts.
