just bought vones
Hi
I just got a second hand vones, it had a 2speed and original motor.
i have changed the motor to an os18cvr, gives great power, but the plastic 2nd gear has failed twice.
What is the best way to have it change gear without too much torque going through the 2speed mechanism, maybe raise the gear ratio from 14/17 clutch bell to ???. Richen up low end needle?

What do you mean that the 2nd gear failed twice. . where did it fail???
1.0 does the gear teeth broke
2.0 or it just didnt shift to 2nd speed???
if it didnt just shift to 2 speed just check your cam adjustment ( 2speed adjustment) or check the inr portion of your spur gear where the cam should engage when shifting to higher speed. Usually this is a common problem for v1s/v1s2. And their countermeasure is to modify the inr portion of spur by inserting 1 mm pin.
check this site for 2 speed modification: www.goto.solaspeed
cheers. . .

will try steel pin upgrade
the first time the teeth of the gear stripped while changing gears because the motor come loose, but i have solved that problem.
the second time the inr part was slipping, i think bcause the pin holding the cam in place come loose. i dont no if any other parts are missing from the metal part of 2peed, it still has the spring and grub screw but im not sure if there was a ball inbetween the cam and spring, plus i need another pin as i didnt get the instructions for 2peed with the car
i am just running single speed now with the 43tooth first gear and a 16tooth clutch but it over revs too quick. maybe i could just buy a 18 or 19 clutch, the motor has plenty of power.
the upgrade to the 2nd gear from that web site looks like it would be worth doing too if i get it working again.

it still has the spring and grub screw but im not sure if there was a ball inbetween the cam and spring,
with regards to the pin for your modification on your 2 speed, you can use the excess pin the same as that of your wheel hub.
regarding the change in gear teeth, you must remenber that the sum of the low speed ( pinion + spur ) should be equal to the sum of teeth on high speed ( pinion + spur).
goodluck ! ! !

Leaking rear diff
Hi All,
Does anyone have a simple tried, proven and reliable method to seal up a V1S leaky rear diff, other than buying a new one ?
When I took the whole rear end apart for cleaning, there were no signs of problems, all parts mating well, but then, it only had a light grease in it. (I only recently bought it second hand as my beginners car)
Thanks inadvance

the drive cup area, before putting the drive cup in i smear the shafts with some mugen 100000 diff gease.
then use aluminium safe silicon sealant when joining the two halves.
seals enough to stop schumacher silicon shock oil (30wt) from leaking.

Leaky rear diff
Hi MisterLister,
Thanks for the tip, I will give it ago this weekend.
I should have been more specific in my original Email. The Leak is where the two diff housings mate together, sorry about that.
Thanks again.

Engine Specifications
Hi All,
Would anyone by chance have the GS15 engine specifications they could post or email to me ?
I would be interested to see the power/torque curves.
Thanks inadvance.

If you ever do find out I would be interested to know. But I wouldn't hold my breath the numbers were impossible to get when the car was new let alone now. Most people just said the stock engine must be crap and replaiced it with an expensive brand name engine. I still have the GS15R in my V one S and I am not feeling a desperate urge to replace it.

Hi Dishy,
Thanks for the reply, I have searched the net a fair bit, so I suspected as much. Out of interest, what is the most popular replacement engine (For Stock class)?
Thanks inadvance!

Leaky diff
Hi MisterLister,
Thanks for the Leaky diff advice.
A small application of "Form-A-Gasket" (Aviation grade - Non hardening) seems to have done the trick.
Thanks again.
